I have it plugged to 20amp 220v outlet. I set it to charge at 16A, but it only shows 9A charge rate, so it is slower than I had hoped, charging my plug in hybrid. UPDATE: I discovered a setting on my new car (Alfa Romeo Tonale) that had the allowable charge rate set to 60% of max rate. Once I set the car to use 100% the charger gave the full 16A charge rate. This setting could be useful maybe if your charger pops an electrical breaker. ... show more

It worked as advertised.....would have been better to have an 8A charging level since it's just a Level 1 variable output charger and since all the Level1/2 variable output chargers have that increment. The most likely application of a variable output EV charger is for slow charging an EV with off grid solar and wind replenished battery bank with a pure sine wave inverter. The cable to the car was not the length as advertised. It says 19 feet but is barely 10 feet....that was shockingly inaccurate. I might have considered keeping it if the cable were tru ly 19 feet. My precious charger stopped working after 2 months so I bought this one. So far it works great! First of all, the 27.8FT cable is super useful. I can connect the charger to my car regardless of the distance to the outlet. Moreover, I can adjust the Amp with options from 10A/13A/16A.
