Well I've had this for a couple months now. Worked pretty well until last night when it made this horrible noise and sounded like it was tossing the blades around inside the shell. (Spoiler: Hope you never need to move this thing if you have the base actually screwed into something) Well you screw the base in and then clip the fan legs into the base. The legs have little push clips to get the legs back out. Except they don't work. I've completely tore up the plastic trying slotted screwdrivers and clamps and everything I could possibly think of to push these clips in and they just won't let go. After all was said and done, I broke one leg of of the housing, actually got one out, and gave up on the other two, figured out the two outer portions also twist off of the main housing so I removed the middle from the parts actually screwed down. Turns out the little plastic button screw in the middle of the blades was loose. Tightened that down and now we're back in business (literally) Although I already ordered a better one from a different brand, I'll hold on to this as a backup in case something happens to the other one. As far as working it does work pretty well. After I get the hoses hooked up, I can't really notice a difference between low and high but whatever. At least I can get back to making money with my laser for now. ... show more

NOTE: I have not used the fan much as its a part of my heating system for the six months we heat our house in Michigan. Being that it's summertime, I have only run tests on the system and haven't seen it yet in full usage. However, the tests that I have run have worked fantastically! I've added another return to my HVAC system, except that I tapped the flex hose directly into the supply duct and installed a damper near the furnace to bypass the central fan. I installed two of these smaller fans in the duct work to take air from one part of my house and transport it through the registers. The system works well from what I can tell in the tests. The only reason I did not give this a five star rating is because of a couple bugs that (since I was aware of them ahead of time, I took precautions). . . 1) If you use the screws to mount the fan, the mount becomes permanent because there is no way to pull out the black plate the screws are attached into. I resolved this issue by using ratchet straps to strap the fan to where I wanted it mounted. 2) There is a little bit of noise to the fan; however, I installed the fans in prudent locations where that was not a problem. 3) The kill switch, being next to the fan, is difficult to use if the unit is installed in a difficult spot (like a crawl space or attic). To resolve this, I plugged the fans into long outdoor utility extension cords and plugged the cords into a serge protector that has its own kill switch. This allows me to keep the power switch on the fans always on as I control the on/off power through the serge protector. ... show more

Was a little upset about that and almost returned, but learned that I should still be able to meet my needs. I installed it and it does work very well for what it is. I bought this and drilled a 6 inch hole in the floor of a room in my house and ran 6 inch black pipe under the crawl space to a cut off where it would suck in fresh air 18 hours a day with no filter into my house for 3 years. I have had minimal issues, Recently the blade became misaligned but was able to fix in 5 minutes. It spun the nut that holds the blades off and is no where to be found but the blades stay on without it and has been like that for a couple months. Used this for an exhaust set up for my 3D resin printer. It has terrible harmonics when the motor is running at varying speeds. But you can adjust the regulator to dial in the amount of noise you want with fan speed. However, when I need full airflow, it's an annoying, loud, and high-pitched sounding fan. It is not balanced well, I had to put it on foam feet to damper some of the vibrations the fan has while running. It's been running for hours so far without fail. You pretty much get what you pay for. I'll be looking for a quieter more expensive unit on my next fan purchase. ... show more
