Been taking care of my mom for 8 years. She hasn't had a single bed sore and she's been completely enabled the whole time. Pair this with pink salve and you're good to go. Mom's got a big butt though so I don't know how it'd work for a little skinny butt people, but you do have to replace them about once a year. If you have cats or dogs but a couple little holes in it it still keeps up. I get one about every year.

A member of our family needs an alternating pressure mattress when she sleeps due to medical issues. She has a fancy medical mattress that she uses at home, so she uses this mattress topper and pump when we travel. I love the fact that I can buy a replacement just for the pad instead of replacing the pump too. Both this pad and air pump are THE BEST alternative for a special (and usually expensive) medical mattress. The pump is not obnoxious, and it is very comfortable, according to our family member. She has not had any bed sores, not even the hint of one. The only thing I would change would be to put non slip backing on the pad and/or straps to secure the pad to the mattress. I have bought this item over and over throughout the years and will continue to do so.

This replaced my 3rd new one as the alternating mattress are usually good for about 3-1/2 to 4 years and then they develop a pinhole or a bit larger hole which obviously causes a air leak and loss of pressure in that complete set of mattress Bubbles. There are approximately 16 rows of inflatable mattress pillows that alternate and when there is a leak it is audible and causes that set of 8 rows of inflatable pillows to not fully pressurize. And the pinholes are usually in a hard place to patch with the provided patch kit provided with the inflatable mattress. Also I have had to replace the air pump before 2 times in the 9 years I’ve had to use these devices. Actually i am quite satisfied with how long these last especially since in my case the alternating air mattress is running 24/7. And never turned off as I am only up about 2 or 3 hours per day. I leave it on as I do not want to wait for it to fully re inflate. As the cells or bubbles deflate in that much time so better to just leave it on. For the $$price$$ you cannot beat it as it is a bargain at this super low price. And performs as well or better than other systems $$$costing$$$ 4 and 8 times as much so I am quite happy. Anything that cycles up and down is eventually going to fail because of the constant stretching and contraction and it does this about every 5 minutes. That is 12 times per hour / 288 times in 24 hours/and 105120 times in one year and 315360 times in a three year period so that is a extremely excellent performance record. It is a awesome bang for the buck and I will continue to order when they do start to fail or do fail. Absolutely awesome Job VIVE and AMAZON!! I hope many patients read this and learn that this is the best way to go.

Wish it would last longer. But, it works and the patch kit is somewhat useful but don't expect the lifespan to last longer than a year max. I noticed there is now a tube version that I'm going to try out because leaks always occur right at the seams which makes the patch kit semi useful. But it does prevent bed sores, so buy two at first and then buy just one when it is not needed as a backup. It fits a hospital single bed IDK why it says it fits all kinds of beds because it does not when a person can roll off of it on a king size bed. It does not come with a pump this is just a mattress replacement so it needs an alternating air pressure pump.
