I mostly wanted to be able to make single-serve smoothies - as others have stated, I tended to make too much in the pitcher. Plus making salad dressing etc - you just want a smaller vessel. I have tried making a few things to test it out & so far I like it. No problems for all the things I tried. I would not blend anything hot in here, as it's not vented (could cause a pressure build up during blending), and it's explicitly labeled not to do it. Nor would I make peanut butter in this - you need the tamper for that. (I noticed questions about these while I was shopping for this item) I don't understand the confused reviewers... this seemed very simple to use, and not difficult to clean. It fits just fine on my creations series blender (a few years old - not the newest type). The tumblers are are double walled to help keep your drink cold and latch tightly closed. The hole is big enough to put my smoothie straw in (metal, reusable type - don't hate me). It feels pretty durable & looks like tritan plastic (the no-stain type). The base does seem a bit large when you screw it on the tumbler, then flip it over & set on the blender, but it stays put (No visible vibration or movement). I guess there's a reason for it to be so big..? Short version - it's Vitamix quality... which means the Vitamix price tag. ... show more

My Vitamix is ancient - I think 15 years old with lots of use. So my blades are a little dull and I do make smoothies often, so I thought I would give this attachment a try. In the box is one blender attachment thing with its own blades (yay) and two smoothie drink cups. The first big plus is not having to wash out the blender when I'm rushing out the door to get to work. I just have to wash the attachment, which is much quicker. The second is not making too much to fit in my cup. I usually had a little extra that I hated dumping down the drain, but I knew I wouldn't drink it later. That problem is solved with this setup. I just toss my ingredients into my travel cup, attach, blend, quickly wash the attachment, and leave. Super easy! The cup also works if you use a service like Daily Harvest. Depending on your DH drink, you might have to break up some of the ingredients to get it into the cup, then fill with as much liquid as you can. If you don't completely fill it up, it will be too thick to blend. So it barely works, but it does work. Even though it's pricey, I still gave it 5 stars for value, because of the longevity of Vitamix products. Smoothie pictured contains: cooked sweet potatoes - diced - frozen chopped raw carrots -frozen Banana - whole banana frozen walnuts pitted date cinnamon nutmeg collagen almond milk I don't measure, I just guess and it always works out. ... show more

I've owned this attachment for about a week now, and so far, I've been enjoying using this over the standard blender. I wanted something to make my smoothies easier to make like a ninja blender and seeing that this is the only option for my explorian I decided to purchase it despite its high price. Overall, the attachment works great. My only problems are the cup design, attachment design, and price. The cups themselves do a fantastic job of sealing and have not had any issues with leaks; however, the cups have these weird ridges, making it hard to reach down to deep clean. The adapter, which goes on the blender, is also bizarre. It has a circular guard, which takes up space and makes it hard to clean the gasket, but nothing major. It may be for safety reasons, but I would probably remove it if I could. Last is the price. You get two cups out of this, but for $130, it's a bit ridiculous, considering there are better designs from Ninja and nutribullet. The other reviews I've seen for this adapter seem to be a bit of an overreaction because, overall, it still works great. I would highly recommend just cleaning the blender right away after drinking it, not letting it sit so it's easier to clean. ... show more
