A little challenging to line up log and balance on blade. Wood must be very dry. Holder arm is kinda flimsy. Missed the log and hit it once or twice and it bent pretty easily. When I hit a dry log correctly worked very well. Essentially my complaints could be chalked up to user error. Open design allows for bigger/odd shaped log splitting. FYI… like any wood splitter this one is very good, but you need to know that if the wood is too wet or has too many knots it is hard to split. No directions were included and some of the screws were a bit difficult to get into place but once assembled it works very well.

Missing screws and nuts. Blade had chips and knicks in it. Wasn’t able to take to ups to return due to limited mobility. So stuck with maybe a defected item. I haven’t used it yet for fear of more chipping or damage to blade.

The media could not be loaded. Unlike my last wood splitter, with this one, I'm not limited to the size of logs that I use. While I'm not using huge sized logs, the logs that I use wouldn't not fit in my other one as the ring that "helps" hold the logs limits the size that I use. With this one, I don't have a ring to limit the size but rather the bar that comes up, holds the logs in place and this splitter is sharp enough to slice through, usually with a single strike and not having to constantly hit the log to split it. The base does have holes that I was able to drill screws inside and have this screwed into a base, but that is if I want to. If I don't, I don't have to have this screwed into a base which is great. The blade on this is sharp and when I first put the log on, it really holds it along with the bar on the side. Great for at home and camping. ... show more
