Extremely well made. Smaller than I thought… took a quarter split of log from a splitter. Took the back of an axe to lodge log onto blade… only had a sledgehammer so I hit the piece 2-4 times and it split nicely… really like it as it serves the purpose!

works well , but not impressive . do not spil heavy or notted wood . it wont hold up . for normal , in the house or barn , fireside splits for kindling , nice . we did NOT mount it and base is stable . i may even buy another just because . only change i wood make , a SLEEVE for smaller wood . the inverted edge helps center nicely , but a spacer ring wood REALLY make this nice unit

Kindling splitters come in all shapes and sizes. YouTube has dozens of videos on them. Before buying a splitter, it would be good idea to watch some of these because they do provide useful buying information. With regards to this splitter. The construction is impeccable. Solid steel not tubular steel parts. Unlike some cast iron units, nothing is bolted together. The welds are solid and the base is very stable and the powder coat paint finish was well done. Its rugged and because the blade is steel you can file it a bit to improve the ease of splitting. I first used this up on my porch which was not optimal-I had to pad it so I did not crack a tile. In the future, I will bolt it to a solid platform like a big log-plus that would raise it off the ground. With a 3 lbs hammer I breezed through splitting down dozens of logs and split wood. It was fantastic. The opening is large and all my split logs and smaller diameter logs fit wonderfully. The 'V' blade shape is great and does make splitting a little easier. The spreaders are smaller than many other kindling splitters and that is a very helpful feature when it comes to splitting unseasoned hardwood. The other feature I like about this, is its tall enough to hammer through most split log lengths 12-18" easy. I would absolutely recommend this kindling splitter.

It's a fairly small footprint but can fit a decent sized log. You definitely need to screw it down and there is my first problem. Getting a log perfectly level to screw it into is a hassle. If you screw it into a driveway of asphalt or concrete you probably want to pre-drill the holes. Second thing - logs tend to get stuck. If they don't seat right getting them unstuck so they're trying to split right is a pain. And if it does get stuck, your option is to pretty much pound it and hope it eventually gives. I did kinda use it as a holder and then used a diamond wedge to split it from the top - I do like that it will hold the log steady. Reality though is none of these log splitters really work as well as an axe or a log splitter. Sure, they're a lot safer. But they're not necessarily efficient. After I get it mounted properly and try again I will update the review.

I’ve been looking at something like this for a while, but I felt like they were too expensive for what they actually were. This one was priced right, so I pulled the trigger. There is a small Woodstove in my wife’s office, that needs smaller pieces to work well, so it’s been great for that. It cuts kindling very nicely, has nice welds, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. I have younger daughters, and I like that they can split kindling with a little sledge versus a sharp axe.
