Overall this works well for us. It's different from the one used before but it will definitely get the job done. Pros: - Compact. The big clear dome makes it so you can get a good visual on the eggs when they start to hatch. - Foam insulation from the packaging helps hold temperature, and the water bottle works great for keeping humidity. Our temperature has held steady so far. Cons: - The machine beep is SO LOUD. I probably more easily annoyed by it than most, but good gravy it is loud. The alarm will go off if someone opens it while it is on to let you know the temp fell out of range. This too is very loud, so you don't have to worry about missing it. - Temp only sets and displays in Celsius. Not a huge deal since it's not hugely variable, but just not what we are used to. - The egg turning doesn't work as well as I would like - the bottom tray moves so it "rolls" the eggs for however long you set it and how frequently you set it, but each egg may roll a different amount if the egg slides on the moving tray rather than rolls. I just started incubating some eggs. This incubator is somewhat like a science experiment. It reminds me of something that you would do in middle school or high school. It's basic, but it serves its purpose. I have yet to have any eggs hatch but we will see what happens as time goes on I am confident that it will produce some chicks! ... show more

The reason I ordered it was because of its "novel" design. Sadly I can not test it at this time of the year because of the weather. I like it's compact size so I can set it in one of my kids desk to follow up during hatching. It can automatically be "fed" water with am attached bottle to keep humidity and it automatically rotates the eggs. ... show more

I regularly hatch out Polish chickens during the summer months and have various collections of incubators on hand, but this one seems to be the best so far. - Tray rotation works flawlessly with average-sized eggs. - Temperature stays consistent and you can use the styrofoam packing to insulate it even more. - Humidity is controlled by using a customer-supplied water bottle. I used a standard 12 oz water bottle, larger bottles do not fit it well. Not a huge issue because you should be monitoring it occasionally, like every three to four days. - Egg candler is a nice added feature that works well - One of the biggest issues I have had with other incubators is the room inside of the dome is too small and if they begin to hatch and you are not nearby they don't have anywhere to go. The large dome provides ample space until you get a chance to take care of them. Welcome girls! - Cleans up easily - I almost forgot, the battery backup is really an awesome added feature. We live out and power outages are a common occurrence here. It doesn't take long for your incubator to be down and you will lose your flock, so this is a smart way to combat that. I have a spare 12V house alarm battery that I would use and you could pick one up here at Amazon for around $24. ... show more

Having hatched off many chicks in our lifetime, I was glad to find this incubator and ordered it for my daughter, who takes care of our little farm. Our old incubator died on us a few years ago, unfortunately taking several unhatched silky chicks with it. The auto-turn and humidifier options, as well as the egg candler, on this unit will make it easier to monitor and care for the eggs, and the clear case will let us know when the hatching process has begun. Let me start off by saying I love the feature that keeps me from having to constantly add water throughout the day. Just this feature alone makes the process so much easier. I like being able to do different sized eggs at the same time. The candling feature is also another helpful item. This turns the eggs, maintains the proper temperature and humidity levels. This is my first experience using an egg incubator, so I can't compare this to other ones. As of now, the incubator works properly & allows me to incubate several sizes of eggs. At first, I was intimidated using an incubator, but this one was pretty easy to set-up & use.
