Description

Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiparasitic and Antiseborrheic Medicated Shampoo for Dogs is an effective and affordable treatment for skin scaling caused by seborrhea, mange and other parasitic infections, and fungal infections. With an easy treatment regimen of shampooing 2-3 times per week initially and then less frequently as skin improves, you can give your pet relief from symptoms including an inflamed scalp, greasy skin, rashes, and scaly skin similar to dandruff that are caused by seborrhea (most commonly caused by bacterial or yeast infections). The veterinary-grade ingredients in our topical bottle of antiseborrheic and antiparasitic shampoo for dogs help treat, hydrate and relieve multiple skin conditions such as seborrhea, mange, parasitic and bacterial infections. Powerful ingredients like salicylic acid, coal tar and micronized sulfur help treat the condition, while colloidal oatmeal and allantoin hydrates skin and promotes healing. You can also use this antiparasitic mange shampoo for dogs with other topical spot-on flea and tick treatments. Great for pets with allergy-prone and yeasty skin! We know that your dogs are more than just pets - they are part of the family - so Veterinary Formula Clinical Care designs premium medicated products that pet parents can actually afford. Your dog will feel fast acting relief from skin infections and you’ll notice that your dog’s skin is calmer, less inflamed and the itching is controlled – making you both happy and able to focus on more important things like walks, fetch and snuggles. It’s important to determine the cause of the underlying issue, so please consult your veterinarian if skin issues become a consistent problem. Due to the coal tar content of this shampoo, we do not recommend its use on cats.

  • Finally something to help with our GSD's atopic dermatitis, seborrhea, and out-of-control yeast!!
Size: 16 Oz Pattern Name: Shampoo
We have a GSD who has had skin issues starting after puberty around ~2 years old, and the only thing that helps keep her comfortable in the Midwest's awful mold/spore/allergy seasons (spring, summer, fall) is a weekly bath. We've tried OTC meds, prescription meds, shots, special diets - EVERYTHING and nothing seemed to help. We started doing weekly baths (once every two weeks in the dead of winter) with this specific shampoo and are so impressed! Her skin is no longer red and irritated, it helps keep her oily skin and coat at bay, and she's not up half the night itching like before! We have even tried every combination of prescription shampoo, OTC shampoo and even other ones from this brand - and this one is hands down the best. The smell isn't our favorite (tar-y smell to it a little) but it mostly goes away after a day or two. Our dog is so much happier with clean skin, knows our bathing routine so makes it easy on us, and after we let the shampoo sit on her skin/coat for a minimum of 15 minutes, we are set for 7-10 days of a shiny coat, soft skin and no dermatitis! This shampoo has saved us from constantly going to the vet for treatments and further expenses. It took us a long time to finally land on a product that works well for our dog's skin and is cost effective. My local Walmart carries this shampoo as well, so in a pinch I have it no problem - but if your dog is running into similar issues, try this out and develop a good bathing/shampooing regimen for your dog! The trick is to definitely let the shampoo sit on the skin for a minimum 10 minutes and as an added bonus, wash their fur/hair/skin with a mild shampoo beforehand, so the "medication" portion of this shampoo can do it's job directly at the source - on the skin. We also dilute the shampoo, roughly 2-3 tablespoons for 16 ounces warm water (add water first, then shampoo to not create suds) and use THAT to shampoo our pup. It works great, ensures that all the remaining shampoo is rinsed off at the end, and you don't "overdue" it with the shampoo and waste any. Happy bathing! ... show more

  • Only shampoo to ever work!
Size: 16 Oz Pattern Name: Shampoo
I have two English bulldogs, male and female. My male bulldog has always been very stinky and dandruffy and yeasty. I've tried several medicated shampoos including stuff from the vet and nothing has ever worked very well. When I bathe my female I can still smell the shampoo in her fur a month later. But with my male, he doesn't even last until the end of the day before he gets his typical stank again. You wouldn't even know I had given him a bath that day. He also has some sort of autoimmune issue and I started wondering if perhaps he had psoriasis given how flaky he is. So I searched for a psoriasis shampoo for dogs and stumbled across this stuff. I don't believe in miracles, but this stuff is pretty dang close! Now I'll admit it doesn't last long for him, but it lasts longer than any other shampoo I've ever tried. And it actually eliminates his flakes (as you can tell by the pictures)! At least for a day or two. And he'll smell good for a day or two as well. Typically when I bathe him he'll be flaky before, during, and after bathing. This stuff actually eliminates the flakes. When he's shedding a lot, I'll start with this shampoo and then after 5 minutes I'll squeeze a little deshedding shampoo on him and lather that in as well rather than doing two separate shampoos. I'll leave that on for another 10 minutes (for a total of 15 minutes) and use a bath brush mit and it seems to work quite well. I also use a medicated conditioner afterwards for a little extra help, shine, and softness. It also helps to get out more fur after using the deshedding shampoo. I love this stuff and it works really well. Especially if you have a stinky musty ham like I do. It doesn't smell amazing but it doesn't smell bad either. Just like typical medicated shampoo. The deshedding shampoo I use helps add a more pleasant scent to him. I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Finally! Relief for a dog with oily seborrhea
Size: 16 Oz Pattern Name: Shampoo
I started out being a foster mom for a beagle, then I decided she needed to stay with me. Lovely little beagle who had the oiliest skin/coat I have ever come across. I was a vet tech and thought I was reasonably knowledgeable, but life is not a textbook, and is certainly different when you are working with dogs and cats who have been terribly neglected. This dog would become greasy just hours after a thorough bath, had frequent yeast infections in her ears and rashes on her chest and belly. I decided to hit this problem from all areas- diet, bathing, acupuncture, homeopathic treatments, supplements, everything. I have a fused cervical spine and bathing is difficult, so I decided to cover as many areas to hopefully speed her recovery so the bathing would be less frequent, for my sake and hers. When I first started with her, she was on a dry dog food, received at least three baths a week and her bedding HAD to be washed frequently. I changed her over to the Honest Kitchen's Thrive, but have also used Force and Keen, I have her on their herbal supplement Sparkle, fish oils, also Homeopet's Skin and Seborrhea remedy, a probiotic and enzyme product, though is currently just on a probiotic. When I started to run out of DermabenSs shampoo, which I loved, I decided to try a different type of product as I just was not getting the results I wanted. The smell is wonderful and it stripped her coat well, but within 3 days she was oily again. I did more research and opted for a coal tar shampoo. I read the reviews of this product and thought it was something I should try. The price was reasonable. As far a the fragrance goes, for a coal tar shampoo it is not too bad. It could be much worse. It is coal tar after all, it is not going to smell like a bouquet of flowers, but it is certainly better than an oily dog! The lather is nice and I found it to rinse well enough. My dog is a beagle. Possibly with a thick coated dog or one with a longer coat, it would be more difficult, but then those types of coats simply take more work anyway. This seems to do a nice job of exfoliating. Minnie had had a litter of pups in her day and her nipples will get crusted over and this shampoo has done a better job of removing the dead skin than the other products. I can also see that her coat is not oily in three days after a bath now. She can go a week now without a bath. When dealing with a skin issue, I had to remind myself that this problem is not skin deep. But possibly a clue that other areas of her life were not in harmony. That is why I threw practically everything except the kitchen sink at her to give her some relief. I think everything has helped in it's own way. Was there one thing that really tipped the balance? I don't think so, I think it was the collective good that changed things. I so wished I was working with a dog with dry skin as treating this oily condition requires so much work. If anyone else out there is struggling with this problem, here are my recommendations: Feed the best you absolutely can. I am going to go out on a limb and say try using a prepared raw/dehydrated/frozen diet. These dogs need water to help flush away toxins that have built up in their bodies and kibble can make matters worse. I am going to start to switch her over to part THK and Wellness Core for cost reasons. She was the poster child for food allergies and I hoping we have progressed far enough now that she can go on some kibble. If things backslide, I know what worked and will return. Consider supplements wisely. Fatty acids are good in general for reducing inflammation. Probiotics and enyzmes help dogs to make better use of their food and when you are using an expensive product you want them to get as much out of it as possible. Also this helps with battling yeast in the ears. Keep a journal as skin issues take a long time to turn around and you can begin to wonder if you have made any progress. So keep detailed notes and take pictures, too. Good Luck!! ... show more
