My 10 year old golden has had smelly dark thick oily flakey patches on her elbows, under her tail and bottom area and to a lesser extent her lower belly for a number of years. I have had her to the vet 3 times to treat it, nothing has worked, nor could they positively tell me what it was or what was causing it. I started by treating her 3 times a week for 2 week and then down to twice a week. After the first 2 weeks I had already noticed a significant improvement, about 40% decrease in the affected areas and she was itching less. The downfall is that you have to leave the shampoo on for 10 to 15 minutes which would be stressful for my girl! Instead, I have been spot treating her. By doing that, she is not soaking wet head to tail and can lay on towels and stay inside by me where she is more comfortable (I have tiled floors, so that makes clean up easy). I am still treating her with the shampoo, it isn't gone completely but she is much more comfortable and less itchy and smelly! ... show more

My collie lab mix gets seasonal skin allergies pretty bad, this year I noticed it was not so much hot spots but either a mild reaction rash or fungal situation coming up on his back. Our vet typically just gives him the same prescription topical gel treatment. I decided to try this first and I’m glad I did. Whatever active ingredients in it worked very well after just one use. It does smell strongly of tar (expected) and I did let it sit the full recommended time and soaked his paws in this along with a paw relief mixture. First use I let it sit there for 15 minutes. Lathered it into her skin real good and let it sit there and set the timer. It didn't have much effect using it one time. I used it a second time today. The first time I saw very little improvement. Second time I'm seeing a really big improvement. I also bought a flea medicated shampoo a few days ago and used it today, on top of the shampoo I bought here. This time I'm seeing a huge difference. I probably let it sit for 10 minutes today on her skin but I used it twice in today's bath. To ensure that it was getting into her skin where she's having skin issues. We're having a flea problem right now and I have to bathe all my pets today w the flea medicated shampoo. It did kill the fleas and eggs off of their skin. I used this medicated shampoo from Amazon on two of my dogs who were having skin issues. My third dog does not have skin issues. My two dogs that I used the medicated shampoo on, I am seeing a huge improvement today. So I will wait another week to use this shampoo on them again. Hopefully more improve a third time. Wish there was some type of permanent solution to completely get rid of them scratching their skin but that just might have been the fleas biting them. I really don’t have much feedback for its effectiveness at this time, but it did arrive on time. The only downside is it did have a small hole/crack on the bottom of the bottle so it was leaking a bit. It does have a strong smell, but it didn’t seem to bother my dog and we’ll continue using it. Environmental allergies.. my 2.5yr old pittie was itchy and scaly. One use, great improvement. Hair is growing back, no scaly skin, fur is soft and he is happy. We have a Rottweiler, and I can’t tell you how many shampoos I’ve tried over the years to help with his fur and skin issues. He sheds a lot, constantly scratches from irritation, and often struggles with dry, flaky skin—not to mention the odor that develops in between baths. This shampoo is by far the BEST I’ve ever used! Just like others mentioned, the results were immediate after the very first use. His coat looks just like it did when he was a puppy—shiny, healthy, and so soft. Some reviewers mentioned not liking the scent, but I actually think it smells great. It’s fresh with a light hint of coconut or something similar, and it leaves him smelling clean without being overpowering. The bottle suggests using it 2–3 times a week, but for our boy, I don’t think that’s necessary. His usual every-other-week bath works perfectly with this shampoo. Got this yesterday for dog that was chewing his feet and tummy and had a minor rash on his belly. Let the stuff sit on him for 10 minutes before rinsing. He’s not scratching himself at all anymore and rash is clearing up. I did not expect this to work so well! He’s super soft now too. The smell isn’t the best but it’s not bad and he’s so much better!
