this is a very nice electric kettle the quality is great made of glass,plastic and steel, light and easy to use just plug base in put kettle on and choose how hot you want the water it has 4 built in settings and you could also set your own temps it takes lest that 5 minutes to boil water to 212, keeps water warm maybe 2 to about 5 minutes i have never left water in it longer because i drink a lot of cocoa or tea the only caveat is cleaning i have big hands and cover does not open wide enough so after using it for at least a month i clean with distilled vinegar and water using long reach brush 2nd one my wife accidentally broke my first one so i bought another that's how much i like this kettle and the price was even better than the first time ... show more

I really like this water Veken Electric Tea Kettle. I used to use a 4 liter hot pot that ran all day but they last a few years and the replacement price nearly doubled so I was looking for something else. This kettle is pretty easy to use but if you have hand or wrist trouble it is pretty heavy to lift. I have bad arthritis in my fingers and wrist, so it takes 2 hands to lift it when full. I just put my left pointer finger under the spout and lift with my right hand by the handle. I know that the product name is 'tea kettle' but I don't make tea. I just want hot water available to make instant coffee which I sip on all day. The touch pad names of different teas is confusing to me and it takes 10 taps on the "+' pad to set 185 degrees. So, setting the temperature isn't quite as convenient as I'd like. Also, at first the touch pads didn't respond very well to a touch but they seem to work better now, or else the kettle has got me trained on how to use it. I found that resting my hand on the counter to steady it and rotating it so my thumb touches the pad allows me to hit the pad accurately and set the temp quickly. All in all this thing is almost perfect so 4 stars. It amazes me how fast this thing can heat water to the temp I want. It's about as fast as heating my large coffee mug of water in the microwave. I don't know how much I can say about this because it's pretty simple, but that's exactly what I appreciate. I've seen so many overpriced options that don't work... this one is nice because it does the job well and it's not too expensive. It has some temperature control features, although it could work better, like you cannot adjust to the temperature between the presets for green and black without starting from 0 F.     • Nice but way too fragile

This product looks and seems to work, exactly as Amazon's page describes. The control panel is nice and offers more usefulness than any of it's competitors. I'm quite familiar with borosilicate and I know that it's not the most durable of glass products, meaning it doesn't hold up to impacts very well, although it otherwise seems to last well. I used this product once, and it preformed well, heating the water quickly and to the specified temperature. After i was done and let it cool off back to room temperature, I emptied the remaining water and took a towel to dry off the borosilicate lip, because I like my counter to be attractive and don't like to see waterspots on glass. I had dried less than two inches of the lip when the glass broke, and a large chunk of glass broke off. There was no impact, I was gently drying the lip with a cotton towel. Perhaps this was a construction defect but I doubt that, because the broken piece bordered on the plastic handle and the plastic sleeve thats below the glass. I believe it's a design flaw, that the design relies on the plastic sleeve for it's strength, and the glass above that lip is simply too thin, and too weak, to survive usage. UPDATE The day after this review went live the seller reached out to me to offer an exchange or refund (my choice) but I've already returned it to Amazon for a refund. The whole side of it is a display. It never goes well in the cradle. it seems to do everything I want. I’m really happy to have one that’s not plastic. Heats water in less than 4 minutes, the lid isn't removable so cleaning is touchy but can be done. The buttons are not very sensitive but they do work. All in all for the price, it's well worth it.
