This thing works incredibly well. Our old water dispenser died after 20 years. This one makes ice. Yes, the first cubes take a moment to make. But once it starts, it just keeps making cubes non-stop until the bin is full. Normally I let it run until the bin is full, then turn off the ice maker. Moving some of the ice to the freezer. Great at PARTIES! Once this thing starts making ice, it will keep making enough for a party. I set it to start about an hour prior, and boom - lots of ice throughout the evening. The machine doesn’t keep your ice frozen so you can go through a 5-gallon water jug in a day which can be expensive when buying bottled water. If there was a capability of keeping it frozen instead of melting immediately, I’d give it better ratings

Even filtered water doesn't remove everything. This is great for making ice with bottled spring water.
