This chair is a lifesaver! I had twins 3 years ago and ever since, I've struggled with lower back pain. I have a sedentary job so there are a lot of hours I sit in my office. The chair I had was complete murder on my back which only exacerbated the pain. I tried different cushions and lumbar pillows, but nothing helped. I found I was bracing myself for pain every time I had to stand up and walk somewhere and would have to take a few steps to get the stiffness out just so I could stand up straight. I'm only 36, but I felt like an octogenarian. Yesterday, for the first time in 3 years, I braced for pain and there was none. I want to cry because I'm so happy! This chair does exactly what it says it will. It aligns my spine so I sit up straight. No more hunched shoulders or rounded back and the best part is, it's effortless. I don't even know I'm doing it! Now for the nitty gritty about the chair itself: I see there is a version of this exact chair without a back for a bit less, but if this is a chair you're going to be using a ton, get this one with the back. It's a stabilizing feature and makes balancing a little easier. The cushions are VERY high quality and comfortable (even though they're thinner than imitation versions). One caveat: there's an adjustment period for your shins. Since you're taking pressure off your tailbone and adding it to your legs, there is a bit of discomfort after long stretches of sitting, but I find when they start to give me grief, it's time for me to take a break and get up for a bit. You can also sit in it with your feet on the floor on either side of the kneeling pads or with the chair turned around (if you don't mind the back in your chest) to give your shins a break while still sitting. Putting it together was a breeze for 95% of it. Getting the seat cushion on took a bit of extra willpower, but if you can follow basic directions, it's not bad at all. Overall, if you have back pain and need a chair that's going to help take tension off your spine and put you in the correct posture position with no effort on your part, this is it. It's more than other versions, but you get what you pay for and this chair is SOLID and comfortable.

This does seem to help my lower back pain. However, if I sit more than two hours my knees are killing me. The assembly was a bit confusing for me as far as the instructions. I didn't find them very clear. However, I am in no way mechanically inclined and I am used to Ikea furniture. Once it's set up it seems a little flimsy. The left "leg" is a bit wobbly despite me tightening the screws multiple times. I'm glad I purchased in regards to my lower back, but still haven't found the perfect set up for working at home. Hopefully a standing desk will help as well.

I really like this chair - the materials are definitely of a higher quality. I think having the back support is an improvement over the standard version. However, although I tightened the bolts properly the chair would make creaking noises every time I leaned back. Adding washers between the back rest and wood as well as between the metal rod and the wood almost completely eliminated any noises. The manufacturer should consider doing something to reduce the noise created from this chair, but it's an easy fix and the chair is very comfortable.

My lower back is a mess from sitting for work. I tend to sit at the end of a chair on a third of my butt, back hunched over, working for hours straight. My former chair was fancy and not cheap, but still gave me pain. I tried a ball chair, which did not help for long. I was starting to walk hunched over and it took me a while to get up and straighten myself out. I would lay flat on the floor or work from bed in an attempt to keep my back in a better position. Tried this chair on a whim / out of desperation. This chair makes you sit upright even at the edge of the seat. When you lean back, it’s designed to keep you upright. In fact, I'd say you'd have to try to slouch in this chair. With the backrest, you can sit in it like a “normal” chair. You can even put your feet on the kneeling part to chill in a more squat like position. Having the option to change body positions keeps things fresh, you can even rock back and forth a little to get movement in your spine. I don't feel like I will fall off when I lean all the way forward or backward. Height is perfect for desk/keyboard use (I am 5'4). There is a sweet spot with the shin rests. You can lean in a way that puts the majority of your weight on the shins (not sustainable for hours), or you can sit much more on your butt such that the shin part is merely keeping you from sliding further. Again, you can adjust yourself if any of the positions get tiring. The foot print is about the same as a typical office chair. Overall, I am very pleased with the chair and feel it is worth the high price tag. Assembly was a breeze. Yes, it is ikea-like pictures, but if you have any sense of geometry, you can put it together. Chair feels sturdy and well made too. They even gave two allen wrenches--one attached to the under side of the chair-- so you can always find it if you need to tighten any screws. I appreciate those details and it shows how thoughtfully the company designed the chair. There were very few used chairs for sale online (most 200+ miles away in NYC, where their storefront is located), which might be because the chair is worth keeping around (or the price tag!). Try it for yourself!
