I like having this on hand to get a look at what my car is having issues with before I take it into a mechanic. Armed with that information, I’m able to do a search online and get an idea of what things might cost and also have some knowledge of issues before anyone tries to pressure me into doing repairs I don’t need. This tool does a good job of giving me the info I need in a straightforward manner. It’s easy to use and I haven’t had any problems with it so far. I don’t know if it’s something that a serious car enthusiast or mechanic would be satisfied with but for casual users like me, it’s a great option.

I purchased this to help me diagnose why the check engine light was on in my vehicle. It gave me the accurate code that was causing issues with the injectors. Was able to find the issue, replace the part, and clear the CEL with the help of this device. A must have for any home mechanic.

I have a 2010 and 2011 Honda , and this worked just fine with those; it would not connect to a 2016 Acura. I tried multiple ways and still nothing. I have a dongle/app type and a traditional type (like this) and they both connected. I’m not sure why those worked and this one didn’t. I do like the light up screen, very unexpected for this price point. If it would work with my Acura I’d give it more stars.

Okay, this scan tool can pay for itself the first time you use it. I have a far more expensive scan tool that doesn't function as well as this one. As you know you can start your car and get the dreaded "Check Engine" light and not have a clue as to what is going on. Are you going to damage your engine, or is it just another annoying engine blip that you just need to reset in order to be free of the "Check Engine" light? Fear not. Plug this scanner in and it's going to tell you what's wrong. It might just be a minor engine miss on a cold winter morning that just requires you to reset. Or, it could be some major issue that you need to address now before you cause some real damage. Either way you'll know what your up against. Take it to a shop and know what's wrong, or be at their mercy. Some shops will charge you $99.00 to scan your On Board Diagnostic Computer (OBD). This scan tool is currently $29.99 and you can use it forever and as many times as you'd like to. The features are all listed on the Amazon page and how deep you go with the tool depends on you. It is a very capable scan tool and isn't some basic tool that gives some information, but not everything you need. If you use this scan tool once it'll pay for itself. I think everyone should have a scan tool if for no other reason than to be able to know what's wrong before you take it to a shop. This tool will go a long way into giving the information that you need to make an informed decision. This tool is a solid buy!
