I was a little septic all if this would work. It worked great though. All I really wanted it for was to get the engine hours on a boat I was selling. The dealer wanted me to bring the boat in and leave it plus they were going to charge me several hundred dollars. The motor I used it on was a 2006 Evinrude 115. I never had an issue with this motor but had I, this would have been a good tool to have. It gives the lifetime fault history and has good descriptions for what they are. Plus a whole host of other diagnostic screens. It comes with a video on how to install it. Installation has a lot of steps so I just did them with the video as it played. I did this on a Windows 10 laptop. My only complaint is it comes on a CD so I had to put the files on a desktop that had a CD and then put the files on a USB drive. I didn't care for the instructions at all had to have someone help me set it up but once it was, it is fantastic. Although the person I bought it from was a big help and went out of his way to get me going. Thanks to him. It lets you know what's wrong with your motor in very simple terms. Purchased to evaluate a motor I was buying. Installed software on laptop and configured USB port with the required 9600 baud rate and 4 ms latency (or whatever). Connected to motor and repeatedly attempted connection using the software interface - no go. Vendor was very helpful and sent a second unit. IT TURNS OUT I had managed to find a triangular plug which was NOT the correct one. I included a photo above of the CORRECT plug location, which is just below the flywheel. It is my hope this helps someone in the future. BTW - if you launch the program as administrator, it appears to modify the USB port configuration for you, saving you a step. Works fine. ... show more

Easy setup and install. I did need USB extension to get to motor on my pontoon boat. Read error codes and got all sorts of info to help me with motor issues. For some things the software has to restart and the connection drops because the drivers don't have permission to reload. The solution is to right click on the EVdiag icon and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. In fact RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR every time and that solves all issues with connecting to PC. ... show more

Item installation is multi step process, but with little effort anyone w average computer experience can make it work. The second part is making sure connection is good w outboard then overall running of diagnostic is simple.
