    • Fantastic diagnostic kit, follow the instructions very closely.
I have an Evinrude ETEC 2012 50 HP Tiller Outboard. Bought this diagnostic kit because the other diagnostic kit sold by another seller ( with the CD Disk ) was so complicated to set up. I saw the Orange card in this kit and it would be plugged into the USB, I thought finally I'd get it to connect and work. The instructions that come with this kit are 100 x better than the other kit I bought, the instructions are almost fool proof, fantastic instructions that clearly set up your computer to diagnose your outboard. It clearly shows you how to go into Administrator mode . Plugged it into the outboard motor and I started the outboard motor and I finally got a diagnostic program to work. This kit is fantastic. Now all I have to do is get the Service Manual downloaded and the parts manual and I won't be at the mercy of marine mechanics anymore. I purchased this kit out of desperation , my outboard motor went into safe mode again. I thought the mechanic had fixed the problem that caused the motor to go into safe mode. Went out and a few miles from the dock it went into safe mode again and I had to limp all the way back to the dock. Good thing it was incoming tide !! I connected this diagnostic kit to the motor and it said no active faults. Mechanic said the motor went into safe mode because the Crank Shaft Position Sensor shorted out. According to this diagnostic program, there's no record of a Crank Shaft Position Sensor Fault. Was the mechanic lying to me about putting it in or maybe the Sensor wasn't securely installed?? Without this diagnostic program I'd have no idea what was going on. I'm checking the CPS to see if it was mounted correctly and if the dealer was charging me for something they never did. Nice we can purchase a Diagnostic Kit for Etecs for not a lot of money. Other Diagnostic kits for other brands are substantially more expensive. ... show more

    • It worked!
I was a little septic all if this would work. It worked great though. All I really wanted it for was to get the engine hours on a boat I was selling. The dealer wanted me to bring the boat in and leave it plus they were going to charge me several hundred dollars. The motor I used it on was a 2006 Evinrude 115. I never had an issue with this motor but had I, this would have been a good tool to have. It gives the lifetime fault history and has good descriptions for what they are. Plus a whole host of other diagnostic screens. It comes with a video on how to install it. Installation has a lot of steps so I just did them with the video as it played. I did this on a Windows 10 laptop. My only complaint is it comes on a CD so I had to put the files on a desktop that had a CD and then put the files on a USB drive. I don't know what exactly I was doing wrong with using this software to diagnose my Evinrude outboard but it is working now and helped me diagnose the problem and save me a lot of money going to a shop. I don't want to say it was the products fault since I am not a computer genius but I will say it wasn't plug and play easy. I tried multiple times to get it to work before I finally got it to work - but again, it could have been my ignorance of using this type of software. Worked great on the first connect. The installation was a little wonky, but if you are used to comm ports and computers, you should be okay. The instructions are a little off, because it describes using a CD-ROM and it's actually a USB card. I used it with a Win 11 laptop and on a 2006 90 horsepower Evinrude. Put it on laptop plug up motor cable and info flowed it’s very useful to check out oil system and I love that you can toggle oil pump and ignition

    • Disappointed to say the least
The installation video is terrible. Gave up for the night after an hour. Next day, the flash card doesn't even show up in Windows Explorer anymore. It chimes when inserted and removed, but that's about it. A note on the one sheet-paper instructions says, "If additional questions appear during installation, please send me a message", but doesn't give any email address or phone number to call. Hopefully, the seller will respond to my review and make it right. I'm hoping the partial install didn't screw up my computer since it no longer recognizes the flash card as a flash drive. Another day wasted without being able to connect to my e-tec. Really shouldn't have to jump through hoops to find contact info and reach out directly for tech support. A phone number or email address would go a long way in providing good customer support. ... show more
