  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Good for light duty service on small drains.
Size: 50FT (15meter)
I needed to clean out a clog in a 2" drain that was clogged 35' away. This got the job done so it's getting 4 stars. I would not use in a drain larger than 2". If you do, the cable will double up on itself. Also, if you only need a 25' snake, there are much higher quality choices. Or if you can use a 1/2 dia snake there are much better choices although more expensive. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME AUGER!
Size: 50FT (15meter)
I had a 25' auger I bought from Home Depot prior to getting this item. The only reason I had to buy this new one is the clog was furthur down the pipe and my old auger couldn't reach it. Feels really heavy duty, The cable itself feels really robust. I'd rather spend $50 then $175 for a plumber to come snake my kitchen drain so this was a good buy! Plus, I can now maintain clean pipes on a regular basis. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Not so great.
Size: 50FT (15meter)
Really flimsy and the snake in it bent the first use and we weren’t able to use it again. Went and bought an expensive one after that. Not worth it!

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use and excels at tight turns
Size: 50FT (15meter)
This product was easy to use and worked as intended. The instructions were in the box, but they were in a small envelope and could be easily thrown away. The instructions are also at Amazon in the photos of the product. It is important to read them. I was using it for landscape drains and I would normally prefer a larger diameter / heavier cable for tree and shrub roots but I ordered this because of the length of the cable and because a reviewer mentioned that it was good at snaking through turns in the pipe (my drain pipes unfortunately have several turns). I was happy that with patience on in (cranking and allowing the tool to pull itself along) I was able to extend it to its full length and get some lighter weight date palm roots out. This tool worked pretty well for my use but I could see it working really well in showers and sinks. For heavy roots a heavier, probably powered, unit would be needed. I found this easy to use, but if you haven’t used a snake before you will definitely want to read the straight forward instructions. Key points for success: loosen the stop screw only enough to advance the spring cable easily and hold onto the screw with one hand, so that you don’t drop it down the drain. Advance the cable by hand until it meets resistance (don’t force it or the cable will just be bunching up in the pipe) and then tighten the stop screw while the tool tip is close to the drain (I found less than six inches from the drain to be best to avoid tangling the cable). Then turn the knob clockwise while pressing slightly towards the drain for it to advance. You may have to turn the knob awhile for it to advance through a blockage or when it gets to an elbow. When removing it from the drain it is important to pull it out slowly and STOP PULLING if it seems at all resistant or stuck. Don’t panic or pull hard if it seems stuck. Just make sure the Stop Screw is tightened and turn the knob COUNTER CLOCKWISE to slowly remove the snake. I have read many reviews of various snake augers and people somewhat frequently write about snakes getting stuck and stretched out and then needing a plumber. I suspect that many of these situations may occur because people pull very hard on a stuck cable and end up ruining the cable... at which point it may really become stuck.... so patiently turn the knob counter clockwise and pull gently if it isn’t coming out easily. I also have a 50’ X 1/2 inch cable auger with a handle that slides over the cable (you then twist the handle to twist the cable along in the pipe). I find the twisting handle type auger to be tiring and harder to use. That type also seems to require a lot of room to lay out the cable in a straight line (otherwise it gets entangled as you twist it by hand. Finally, when finished you should wipe off the cable and then coat the cable with a thin coating of oil before storing it (otherwise it is likely to rust). I have used several snakes over the years and this was probably the easiest to use. This tool should be great for basic household blockages. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Wasn't as easy or useful

The longer the cable went the harder it was to use.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars It got the clog that was over 25 feet down there!
Size: 50FT (15meter)
I had a clogged kitchen sink, and it wasn't in the trap, it was way down the pipe that eventually runs out to the street. I went to my local hardware store and bought an inexpensive 25 ft snake figuring out if it worked, it only needed to work once, and even if I destroyed it (I've done that before) then I've avoided hiring a plumber, which are $400 an hour where I live. Well, 25 ft failed and so out of desperation to avoid a massive plumbing bill I ordered this 50 ft snake, and last night I dislodged the clog. It must have been about 30 to 35 feet down the pipe. But I can do dishes again, which means I can cook again, and no plumbing bill! Ka-Ching! ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome product
Size: 50FT (15meter)
We had our sink backing up and it was really a hassle. Could not use dishwasher also due to blockage in drain line. Decided to give it a go with this 50 ft plumbing snake before possibly having to call a plumber. Took about 45 mins to run entire 50 ft snake into drain line. Ran into 3 obstructions along the way. Snake worked like a charm and cleared out blockages. Sink is draining again as it should. Saved $300-$500 from not having to call plumber. If you have a slow or plugged drain give this auger a shot and you may save yourself some $$$ and have the satisfaction of doing the job yourself. 👍👍👍 ... show more
