  • Works Great! - Update, it broke!
Update - I needed to clear hair again. Unfortunately my tub shroom “broke”. The part you stick down the drain got bent and so when I go in with the drill all it does is fly back at me dangerously. It worked so good the first time, that I’m going to fork out the money to buy a second one. Let’s see what happens. I really wasn't sure about this product. I'm not handy, and the tub was not draining. I hate constantly having to call in professionals and spend tons of $$$. I tried non-toxic drain openers; they really didn't help. I can operate a drill, so I decided to give this a chance. Wow! It works! Look at all that hair it pulled up! It was easy to do - even a non-handy person with arthritis in my hands could do it. Just watch out, the coil can sway quickly and snap you - go slow with the drill and let off the power if the coil is whipping around. Now the drain runs free! I was so impressed I used it in the other showers in the house. I wish the coil was narrow enough to do the sinks. We all have long hair, even the men, so I think this will be useful to have in this household. ... show more

  • Junk
I have an earlier version of this Drainshroom that works pretty well. I purchased this newer version recently and am very disappointed. The Amazon ad shows the older version and you will not get the one advertised or pictured. The one you receive, not advertised, is now about half the diameter and strength as the older version. Much too weak to put down a drain. It’s also covered with a plastic sheath that, in theory, would make it slide better but it just twists itself up in a ball on the cable. The cable also easily twists up as you spin it. It’s too weak and almost impossible to get it down the drain without it kinking and twisting around itself. If you encounter any obstruction it will fail. I do not recommend. I am trying to let Amazon know, since they are the seller, but they make that difficult. This item is falsely advertised and a waste of time and money. ... show more

  • HOLY MOLY! This thing works!
So I don’t write reviews. Ever. This time I had to write one. My bathroom sink has always drained really slow but over the last month or two it’s gotten ridiculously slow where I can’t finish brushing my teeth withouta pool of water already sitting. I bought drano and followed those instructions. After letting it sit for 30 minutes and pouring 2 liters of boiling water into the drain, the water sat in my sick, not moving. I checked in an hour and it went down slightly but all of it remained until the next morning when all the water had drained. I poured liters of boiling water into the sink throughout the next day but same thing. It would just sit for a while until it drained. I came on Amazon and found this product. I thought what the heck, it’s cheap, let me try it out. I received the product and poured another liter of boiling water along with a cup of dawn down the drain to see if it loosened things up. I attached it to my drill and went for it. At first it wouldn’t go past the trap. I stopped drilling, and pushed it through in order for it to bend and get past the trap. I drilled and pulled out maybe 3-4 times without catching anything. I’ve read other reviews where the product has gotten tangled in the drain so I was very cautious. I tried again and it caught on to something. I continued to drill and pulled up slowly at the same time. When it was almost out I stopped drilling. The picture shows what I pulled out. It looks like a turd! I have no idea what that is, other than maybe hair. It was easy to get off and clean. I turned the water on and it flows beautifully now. Best money I’ve ever spent! ... show more

  • Cheaper than a plumber visit.
I got it today and immediately put it to work in my bathroom. Wow, I won't describe what was in those drains (sink and shower) or what it smelled like, but I understand why draining was slow. Pros: It worked. I like that it is drill driven, because storing it takes up less space than the kind with the crank, which I have owned. It is longer than the one I bought from the HW store with the crank, so I know I'm going all the way into the wall. This on a cordless drill is a one person operation, I found that difficult with the hand crank model. It costs much less than a single plumber visit, so even if you only used it once and it solves your problem or makes it significantly better, it's worth it. Cons: For my bathroom sink, it could be the larger gauge. Snakes come in at least 3 gauges and this is the smallest of them. I think it would have done a better job if it had been one gauge up, but again...it worked. It would not have fit in my shower drain if it were any larger, so there's that. It kinked on me in a couple of places. That may mean I'm not going to get years of use out of it. It's possible that it might not work the next time I try to use it, but I think it will be okay for a few more uses and honestly how often do you have to snake out your own drains? I think that this again is a factor of it being the smallest gauge and being driven by a power drill. Sure, it could have been operator error, but it's a drain snake, it should withstand normal use better than that. But...cheaper than a single plumber visit, so no regrets. ... show more

  • What’s with the name?
It cleared the clog, snapped during first use. As stated I was “lucky” after carefully inserting the DrainShroom and slowly spinning it using my DeWalt Drill @ low speed. It works but agree with other users the thinness of the entire coil kinda dooms you from the get go. Glove up and enjoy not having to use one of those plastic cheap pullers or more expensive alternatives. Won’t be a long term tool. SNAP! ... show more

  • Works good
I’m limited to clog clearing because my drain is grouted into the tile (non removable) This device worked great.

  • Do not buy.
Do not buy. I used it once and wasn’t even able to finish clearing my shower drain. I had to go to the store and buy a different one. Save your money.
