  • Saved me thousands with a plumber!!
My AC drain had some buildup in it. Plumber recommended 1st to use Bio-clean, if that didn’t work, he may try “air blasting” it, and 3rd would be to replace the whole pipe and drain. The Bio-clean caused the drain to come to a near standstill, so i called the plumber back out. He took a look at it, and said air blasting it wouldn’t resolve the problem, we should just open up the walls and replace the pipes. I rescheduled him to come out the following week, and in the meantime i ordered this product. The product came in 1 day before the plumber, so i let the drain clear as much as possible (no AC for a couple days) and hit it with these CO2 tanks. Right away, it sounded like some gunk got pushed through. Used all 4 of the tanks because they go very quickly, but then turned the AC back on. The drain filled up to the brim and was even overflowing, so i came to the resolution that i would just trust the plumber to come out tomorrow. So we left the AC on to try and cool off the place while putting a bucket under the overflow. After about 30 minutes the water build up seemed to cause enough pressure to push through the remainder of the buildup. Drain now is working good as new and no need for the plumber to come back out. Ordering another one of these to keep handy! Very happy i made this order it saved me thousands. Only reason the value got 4 stars was because the CO2 tanks go very very quickly. ... show more

  • It actually worked!
I bought this back in September as a back up plan should my hvac drain line get clogged in the future. For months it just sat there until today. I got home and my hvac wasn’t turning on and water was dripping from the unit. I used this device. It took for cartridges but it finally worked. It got all the gunk out and cleared my lines. Even though I didn’t have to, I still ran a water hose to spray through the line just to flush out any remnants. But this device did the trick and got the main clog out. Pleasantly surprised. ... show more

This year I put a new cartridge in there and I try to shoot the debris in a condensation pipe. Suddenly the brass screw came off and broke the plastic cartridge case Very weak design, will not purchase again. ... show more

  • Best $30 I’ve spent on Amazon
So……first off, I live in south Florida. Anyone reading this review that also lives in that area knows that our hvac units run ALL day long in the summer months. This is because it’s hotter than the surface of the sun outside. One of the drawbacks to my AC running all the time, is the drain line gets clogged up with really nasty, slimy, different colored stuff. Usually, I can clear it with water, but, not this time. I bought this thing without high expectations but, it cleared out my drain line in under 3 seconds. First, it’s kind of cheap in terms of construction. But just about everything is, so whatever. Second, the co2 cartridge has to be screwed into the device prior to the handle. The handle doesn’t apply enough push for the little pin to pierce the top of the cartridge. No big deal there. The execution of this thing, however, was flawless. Administered co2 down the line and cleared out about 8 inches of I don’t know what!!! If it fails the next time I need it, I’m still saying it’s worth it. I’ll drop another $30 if need be. ... show more

  • Fast Blast!
I needed an effective means to ensure that the condensate drain line for my AC unit was clear of any obstructions. The Gallo Drain Gun was an excellent choice for this job, and I was able to blast a burst of pressure through the drain line, and any residual stuff in that line was blown free. This gun will accept either unthreaded or threaded CO2 cartridges, and mine came with six threaded ones. Be advised though, that once activated by the trigger, The CO2 pressure only lasts about 3 or 4 seconds, so you need to hold the hose & adapter firmly against the end of the pipe you are unclogging. One thing I would change, is the tapered rubber hose nozzle. While it will work well with 1/2" and 3/4" pipe I.D.s, I really had to carefully align it to work with my 3/8" O.D. copper drain line, since the end was too large to insert into the approx. 1/4" I.D. of the copper line. The next time I use it, I'll insert a mini-funnel into the open end of that 3/8" line, and that should do the trick. All in all, I'm very happy with this unit! ... show more

  • I am a Professional HVAC Technician
Bottom line: if you are only a homeowner and want to clear your clogged drain line, take this, a PVC pipe cutter, a straight-PVC coupling, and some PVC glue and give this a shot. If this doesn't work for you, that's when you *know* you'll need a professional HVAC technician with all the tools to get your drain line unclogged, and even then, you may need to just replace the whole entire drain line if the result is a blown-up drain line. This is a tool that worked wonderfully for the first time I tried it, but a rubber gasket meant that it would leak *every* time I put a new cartridge on. That means I cannot store it with a cartridge in, or else it will be depleted by the time I need it. It's also very difficult to screw it on, even with a tongue-and-groove plier. The tool has to puncture a CO2 cartridge to use the pressure inside, and that is difficult depending on how strong the seal is on the cartridge. It works when I need it, except for the most powerful of drain lines. The most recent instance had me go through three cartridges of these things without success. Eventually, I had to grab a tank of pressurized gas (around 300 PSI) and use a drain line blowout bladder on it to blow the clog out. This happening is very rare, but that means that this particular tool isn't the end-all solution for the toughest of drain lines. You will still want a nitrogen tank around just for the stubborn ones if you're a professional HVAC technician. ... show more

  • Perfect size, power and flexibility
At first I was unsure that this would work. It worked perfectly - the size and flexibility was a huge plus. And it had enough power to help with clearing the drain pipe.
