I recently faced 2 stubborn slow drain line issues in both my kitchen sink and washing machine drain lines that connect to the main line outside my house. Enter the POPULO 20V Cordless Electric Drain Auger, and it worked like magic! Here’s why I’m impressed: This little wonder cleared up the clogs faster than I could say “plumber.” No more standing water, no more frustration. And it paid for itself by eliminating the cost of having a plumber come out and snake the lines! The POPULO 20V Cordless Electric Drain Auger feels sturdy and well-made. It’s evident that it’s designed to handle tough jobs. The forward and reverse lever feels a little "stiff" but it's not a knock on this little machine at all. The design is similar to other plumbing snakes that you would attach a drill to. However, the ability to advance and retreat the snake makes using this snake over a traditional snake a game changer. You can select the direction the snake rotates, similarly to the way you change the forward and reverse on a cordless drill, by pressing a direction indicator near the trigger. Here's how I was able to clear both drain lines: 1. Pull the snake from the machine and place it into the drain 2. Switch the direction lever to the Forward position 3. Pull the trigger to begin advancing the snake down the drain line. When the snake hits a bit of resistance and the cable stops advancing down the drain, release the trigger and put the lever in "neutral." Now pull the trigger to engage the spin, and manually push and pull the snake inside the drain by moving the machine forwards and backwards in a "sawing" like motion. When you no longer feel the resistance, release the trigger, switch the lever to forward, repeat the process. 4. When satisfied, switch the lever to reverse and begin retracting the cable back into the machine drum. [Pro tip] PPE is a must! As are rags and/or towels to help with clean up. You don't want the build-up and crud from your pipes getting thrown everywhere as the snake is being retracted. I used a rag to hold the cable in my left hand while I was retracting the cable out of the drain (it helped prevent the rotation from flinging nastiness everywhere and kept some of the gunk from being retracted into the machine's drum.) I wish the manufacturer had painted an indicator at the 2-foot mark and the 24-foot mark. I'll be doing this myself another day. The 24-foot mark would let you know there's not much snake left to send, and the 2-foot mark would help when retracting the snake back inside. This isn't a negative knock on the machine, though! Excellent purchase for the DIY-er!

Well, I was hoping for, but not expecting, an easy solution to our drain issues and BOY WAS I WRONG. The Populo arrived this morning, I charged the battery, read the instructions (a good thing because of a few need-to-know intricate operating details), ran the cable forward, at center and retracted just to make sure I understood its operation, and went to work on our two tubs which have proved Drano proof. I pressed the power button more gingerly than many would, just to be sure I wasn't forcing anything and both drains were cleared and running freely in less than 20 mins. Easy, easy, easy to use and I couldn't be more satisfied with this purchase.

So much easier than the manually turned snakes. This is not a professional grade machine so I don't expect it to last for years but it performed well on my two clogs. Be sure to read and fully understand the instructions before using, took me few reads while looking at the machine to fully get it. Do not try to power through a clog. when you feel it hit something, stop the forward feed and let it spin until it frees up, reverse a little if needed. Keep the feed end of the machine close to the drain/pipe. Once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze. The included rubberized gloves were a welcome addition. Don't ignore the safety glasses warning, you WILL get splashed with sludge at some point. Cleaning was easy. Just took it outside, pulled the snake all the way out and washed it with a bucket of soapy water and a rag, rinsed it with a hose and dried it with a rag while pushing the snake back into the drum. Battery worked well. I was able to unclog two drains with no sign of it slowing down.

After five or six attempts I really thought this wasn’t going to work and I think because I was really being careful with it so I wouldn’t damage anything but then I decided to go a little more aggressive with the feeding of the snake into the toilet and finally eureka the clog was clear!!! I don't normally consider writing reviews, but this device was worth it. The compact design with the included battery and charger made it easy to clean out my kitchen drain three times in a row and still have a three-star battery charge remaining. I have always used a 50 ft traditional auger to clean my kitchen drain, but it probably was overkill. Not until it stopped working in the middle of my last clean out, did I ever consider replacing it. I read reviews on this item and decided that it would be worth the cost versus replacing my old electric motor. When it arrived two days later, I plugged it in the charge, and I was ready to go in 30 minutes. I could not believe the ease of using the shifter to move the cleaning line forward and backwards, and how quickly I was able to complete my work. Just for fun and completion, I did it a few more times, just to make sure the drain was optimally cleaned. The ability to hold the device under my kitchen cabinet, and not get tangled in electrical cords, or a dangerous electric motor with a air-powered foot switch, made using this augur a delight. It doesn't stop there. This battery powered auger also came with a carrying case, instructions, and two gloves that fit my extra large hands. I would not have expected gloves to fit my hands that were provided as part of the box, and hadn't considered using them, but they were perfect for this job. I was impressed with the extra touches, and the great packaging of the battery, and the charger. Just to compare, DeWalt charges almost as much money for a battery as what came with this auger, and it had everything needed to start drain cleaning. I've never used this brand before, but will take great interest in what other products they offer. I've typically been a fan of DeWalt but there are 35 ft device cost four times the money, and didn't come with any battery. If all you need is 25 ft, look no further. It'd be really neat if there was a way to add a 10-foot extension to the end of the auger, but I can imagine concerns of length and power. I'm glad I didn't get the plug-in variety, because the convenience of just carrying this and being able to use it and outside drains will be a significant Time saver during the summer.

Terrible battery. The auger does a good job and I really want to give it a good review. However the battery is just terrible. After 5 charges, it now only changes to about 30% maybe less. So it doesn't last long enough to unwind and wind more even once. Very disappointed. What good is the equipment if it cannot be used! Worse yet, I've tried to find a better quality replacement and maybe one with more capacity, but no luck with either. Apparently this is a custom battery with no compatible alternative. If you know of one, please let me know. So, now I have to order another one and when you go to order, on that page, Amazon warns that people frequently return, etc.
