BOTTOM LINE: 1. I recommend this Renami Ceramic Filter Silver Infused Replacement for BB9-2. 2. The current price of ~$50 is reasonable. LIKES: - Fits my Berkey style filters. A more affordable option than OEM filters. - Carbon is infused with silver for antimicrobial activity. - Ceramic can be sanded to clean it. I don't have concerns about sanded material getting into the water because I'm only sanding the surface of the filter so all water is still fully filtered. DISLIKES: - Reduces carbon quantity. These are lighter than my other filters. So even thought the ceramic exterior can be sanded, the carbon won't filter as much water. Still, very cool option as a replacement set.

These Berkey replacement water filters are the best of both worlds in my opinion. Both ceramic and carbon water filters have their advantages. Ceramic filters are effective at removing bacteria and sediment, while carbon filters excel at eliminating odors, chlorine, and some contaminants. Because these filters are infused with silver there’s less of a chance that mold or bacteria will ever grow on the filters. If these filters didn’t already come infused with silver I would’ve impregnated them myself with MesoSilver(nano silver) from PurestColloids.com. These filter do seem like an upgrade from my previous black carbon Berkey water filters and I would recommend this product.

The media could not be loaded. Four stars. I can’t give it 5 stars, because I haven’t used these filters for very long. I bought these because of the low price compared to Berkey black filters (which received negative press recently), 2 stage construction contains silver to prevent bacteria growth, claims for longer durability, easier cleaning, food grade material, lab certifications and removing particles bigger than 0.1 micron. These filters were first advertised on Amazon on December 4, 2023. I am writing this review on December 26, 2023. I have used these filters two days. I bought these filters. I was not compensated in any way for this review. What I know: 1. They fit in my Royal Berkey. 2. They are slightly shorter than the black Berkey filters. 3. Flow is about the same as original black Berkey filters. 4. Berkey® PF-2™ Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements fit on these with no problems. See pic. 5. Unlike my Berkey black filters which increased ppm in my filtered water, these slightly reduced my tap water with 111-117 ppm to 104 ppm. When I added the PF-2 into the filter flow, it dropped to 64 ppm. 6. These filters come with no instructions. You have to read the Amazon description, which says you don’t have to prime them. You just soak them. I soaked them and the PF-2 filters overnight. I still follow the instructions to prime the PF-2 filters. 7. This filtered water is tasteless to me and has no odor. My tap water has no odors, but it has a taste which is different than tasteless bottled water. I don’t see the tiny white particles floating in the filtered water, which I easily see in the Berkey container with tap water. 8. The package comes with 4 pieces of sand paper to clean them. If these filters last me a year or longer, then these are a true bargain. I’m taking the manufacturer’s claims at face value about certifications, food grade and filtering 0.1 microns and bigger. I like the white outer shell. It is more durable than the soft black Berkey filter material. I’m hoping this company made an improvement on the original black Berkey filter design.

These are exactly as described and pictured by the vendor . There is very little difference between these and the non-ceramic filters other than these are much easier to clean. The ceramic shell on these allow for filtering down to 1 micron while the non-ceramic carbon filters are good from anywhere from 2-3 microns. Enough of a difference to tell? Not really but My preference is for the ceramic coated filters. Thay work great filtering almost everything from the water including micro pladtics, heavy metal, pesticides, medications and darn near all the other nasty stuff that's in our water. Do you trust your city water? I don't. Never have. I see these as a great deal. Ever price the OEM versions of these? The prices are crazy. I can highly recommend these.
