This unit was to replace a Nest thermostat. We wanted to control the HVAC without programming. I like the Nest but my wife wants to change the temp herself and not have the unit change it for us. I know the Nest has a setting to allow user control, but for whatever reason after a day or two, the Nest would start turning it on or off on its own again. She found this unacceptable and i am disappointed in the inability to alter the Nest settings properly. Anyway, this is simple and without frills and has a large, backlit display. My only wish is that these units use the electricity provided by the HVAC system instead of needing batteries the way the Nest works. ... show more

    • Big numbers !
I got it to gift to my boyfriends grandma. I went to Home Depot at first but they where expensive and non had big numbers and it was too complicated for her. I went on Amazon and searched through all of them and this one caught my eye cause of the size of the numbers and the big buttons to switch the temperature. Easy and visible with a good light and easy to install. Wasn’t expensive which is always a plus. 10/10 ... show more

Our old thermostat was in this house when we bought it,& like quite a few things here, it was just stupid. I could not SEE the tiny,dark numbers in the display. So I waited (for 13 years) until HE mentioned he couldn't see them either. HAH! I leaped to my computer, looked up the listing I had saved, & ordered that sucker PDQ. Lo & behold, after it arrived, I simply placed it on his desk while he was gone, then I did laundry, & when I came back in our living room,it was already on the wall, & I could finally SEE the display! For a few seconds,anyway. See? I guess there IS still some magic in our world after all!! 😀 ... show more

    • A vast improvement!
This isn't a "smart" thermostat - which is what I wanted - a plain old thermostat that I have to touch to set. This one is, for starters, a million times easier to read than my old dial type. I don't need a flashlight to read it EVER! It's so easy to learn how to use, which is a plus for an oldster like me! It works correctly - when it is set to 70, as soon as the temperature reads 70 the furnace, (or the central air) kicks in. My heating and cooling costs have dropped to a noticeable degree. I guess my old crank thermostat had some issues. The price is right too. Great regular type thermostat! ... show more

    • An easy DIY, at a great price
My old thermostat has been on the fritz and unreliable for years, but I've always been reluctant to get another one because they are expensive and difficult to install -- so I thought. I was able to install this on my own relatively quickly and just by watching a youtube video or two. I love that it came with labels so if I ever want to upgrade or swap this one for something bigger it will be easier to figure out which wires are which. Once on it looks great. It lights up so you can see it at night but it also isnt super bright. All the buttons are responsive and work as expected.
