Had a Nest and it had so many problems with our furnace. Purchased Honeywell T5 thermostat. It also had huge problems with internet dropping out, going black screen often, scheduling never worked, never accurate with heating such as always off at least 2-4 degrees compare to thermometer we keep to check accuracy. Bought this thermostat. It's not expensive. It's perfect. Easy to use, good screen. Most importantly is accurate with heating. Even our HVAC guy said it's a winner.     • Simple and work perfectly as expected

A thermostat functioning so well you just don't need a smart thermostat. All you have to do is to set it up to auto change between heat and cool and auto fan and that's it, it automatically switchs between them during early spring and late fall when temp can jump up and down a lot in the midwest (from 40F to 90F). A few things to remember: - When you first set up the thermostat, follow instruction closely and make sure the auto switch for cooling and heating is on. You can change it later but it takes time to find. - It's 5 and 2 days and 4 time slot setting: day, afternoon, evening, sleep so just estimate your time and set them up according to your liking. You can adjust it for comfort but keep in mind it's just temporary. Once the next set time come up, it will reverse back unless you put it in permanent hold. - Once a year or when you are going on a long trip, remember to change the battery. A dead thermostat can cause severe damage to your home AC and Heat system. And DO NOT cheap out on battery, get a quality one you know that will last. I bought a cheap battery before and it was dead in about 3 months and kept my system running so hot because it couldn't send stop signal to our furnace. I guess this is the only drawback. Once I got quality battery, Energizer, it's been running good for more than a year already. ... show more

Initial set-up definitely required following the steps in the manual in order to understand some of the codes, but once set up, entering and changing the programming is simple and intuitive.     • Excellent Way to Control Temperature

I installed two of these (one for each of our systems). 30 days later, I have noticed the systems not running as often as previously since the program settings prevent them from being set too low (by "unauthorized" family members) for long periods! I have also noticed the house "feels" comfortable more often than previously. They have FOUR programmed time settings WAKE-AWAY-HOME-SLEEP. Just set the temp and start time for each range. Here's an example for cooling (times in 24 hour and temps in F but you can set for AM/PM and C): WAKE=0630 TEMP=73 AWAY=0800 TEMP=75 HOME=1700 TEMP=73 SLEEP=2230 TEMP=72 Time periods can be set differently for each weekday but will be the same for both the weekend days. Time periods can be skipped as well (e.g. you can set it to have only HOME & SLEEP modes on weekends). If someone changes the setting, the temperature returns to the programmed setting when the next time period is reached. Using above settings as an example, if in AWAY mode and user drops setting to 72, unit remains at 72 until HOME time period at which time temp returns to 73 and then follows the programming cycle as outlined. The instructions are very straight forward and easy to follow. I suggest taking a picture of your existing wiring as well as writing it down to insure no mistakes. BE SURE TO TURN OFF BOTH your existing thermostat AND the BREAKER to your air handler before installing to avoid any shorts/etc. while changing wiring! Once batteries are installed, units can be set up on bench top and then just plugged into the wiring. It was nice to have them all set up when I was ready to install rather than having to make all those adjustments on the wall. Units come pre-programmed to "learn" how your system responds and will turn on before time periods to insure temperature setting is reached by the time period start time. This feature can be disabled if desired and the instructions identify how to do this. Finally, units can be programmed to display a reminder to change the AC filter. The reminder can be based on run time or calendar days elapsed. Very nice units at a reasonable price. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to get a little better control over their HVAC operation while still allowing family members to make "temporary" comfort adjustments. ... show more

Used this for my pellet stove. I just read the comments and looked at the pictures to figure out how to hook it up when you only have 2 wires. Works perfectly and looks much better than my old one. Very easy to install with the comments from Amazon. Not easy with the directions.
