This is a very versatile thermostat that will work in a variety of applications. I bought mine to use with an electric heatpump and wanted to be able to adjust the temperature span so that the heatpump would start and run for a longer cycle period. This is much easier and more efficient for the compressor on a heatpump. Many modern thermostates only allow only a CPH (cycles per hour) adjustment that will not limit the on-off times of your heating unit, since the thermostat will prioritize the temperature setting over CPH. This thermostat allows adjustment of the on and off temperature up to 2 degrees on the high and low temp (span) on either the AC or Heating side. It is accurate and so far has worked flawlessly, a bargain compared to the Honeywell thermostat it replaced. ... show more

This particular thermostat works I've been through at least three of them that have purchased in other places this is the first one that actually works it's accurate easy to install and it works comes on goes off like it's supposed to. The only reason that I gave it four stars is that it shows a pilot light which means heat I guess.. I was confused usually there's a sun for heat not a flame means gas to me. It does have the snowflake for cold. other than that it is perfect you just set the temperature and it works. I'm happy ... show more

    • Temperature off, didn't work properly with heat pump
My heat pump is a two-stage aux heater, O is 0 volts for heat, and 24 volts for cool. Hooking up the thermostat easy enough, but the first thing I noticed was that it read the ambient temperature poorly. My 71-degree room was showing as 73 degrees. Okay, no problem, to test the heat I put the set point at 74 degrees - the Heat pump came on, but was pushing cold air. I gave it a while. I thought, perhaps this thing is backwards, so I tried the A/C after a while - it also pumped the same cold air. So I gave up, put the old thermostat back in and reheated my now cold house. Garbage. You get what you pay for - In my case, this would work for an A/C unit, but not for heat. ... show more
