Detector arrived on time. Assembly instructions were very clear assembly was easy, however, battery compartment was difficult to open had to use a plastic tool to open, also battery connector wires very short so difficult to connect and maneuver batteries into housing. Lots of room for adjustment to my hieght with room for taller and shorter people. Testing was easy and tested out coins, results as expected. Tried it out in my back yard and found my first treasure, a quarter which was on the surface covered in mud. Just need 600 more and will have paid for itself. I will need a lot more practice and fine tuning of device depth and sensativity this summer but so far so good.

A great detector for the intermediate user...not a "toy" and some assembly is required by an older youth or adult. The plastic spin nuts on the shaft need to be loosened and the cord carefully wrapped around during assembly per the picture provided. The shaft will not insert unless you loosen the spin nuts. It does require (2) 9 volt rectangular batteries which are not included so make sure to send some with the gift or purchase them before for yourself. I have a stone driveway where my husband works on the cars and does carpentry during the Summer and I keep getting nails, screws and other metal bits in my tires. My first test was a sweep of where he works and where I park and I was successful in finding five sharp objects down as far as 2" in the loose rocks. He told me he wanted to try it because he had lost a small brake line expander in the rock wall and the rocks were 8-10" around. After a short search he got a signal and found it...a little rusty but it saved us buying a whole new kit. We wrapped it back up and sent it to the Grandkids in Oklahoma as a Christmas Gift. On our visit at Christmas we showed the 10 yr old and the 8 year old how to set and sweep with it. As a starter we tossed coins in the grass in the backyard and they found them all. The 8 year old had to use 2 hands but the older child could do it with one due to the armrest pictured. He sets it up for his younger sister. They have a farm brook and pond at the end of their yard and had a great time finding metal artifacts there. A great present at a fair price to get the kids away from their computers and TV and outside in the good weather!

Kinda works. I bought it to find a buried water valve riser on our property. It could not locate anything unless it was with within 12”. It did find two nails and a piece of metal in our yard about 3” deep though. I would say if you need something very accurate and that goes deeper, keep shopping.
