Just replaced my front lower control arms on my 2021 Subaru Crosstrek. Watching videos on how to do this made me think removing the ball joints would be extremely difficult. Then this tool shows up and I knew I needed something to make that task easier. Sure enough, this tool, once placed in the right position, made the removal of the ball joints EXTREMELY smooth. I'm not sure if other cars are like this, but with the Subaru as long as you can get a flathead screwdriver in the pinch weld above the ball joint and then utilize this tool with a breaker bar. Expect immediate results and the ball joint will come out freely. No need to loosen the ball joint nut on the bottom! Just take it out with the whole control arm (unless you're only replacing the ball joints, then your steps may vary). Clearly this tool is built to last since I was putting a lot of pressure on it with a breaker bar and there is zero bend to it.

I just used this on a Toyota and a GM to change ball joints and lower control arms. I could get the knuckle in just by putting a long breaker bar on it , place under arm pit - push down and get the joints right in by myself.

Is this tool absolutely necessary? No, but it does make separating the lower control arm from the hub quite a bit easier. I have pry bars, but not long enough to give enough leverage where it counts. With this, I use my ratchet, and slip a 3 foot pipe on the end to multiply the torque. No more trying to awkwardly hop on the arm with my body weight.

My son and I always seem to be working on our vehicles or vehicles of friends/family so I have been trying to build up my specialty tool collection and figured this would be a nice addition to the collection. Although I have not had the opportunity to use this for it's intended purpose yet, we did take a good look at it last night and did a couple stress tests simulating proper use and we are very satisfied. He did crawl under his car and confirmed it will fit for it's intended purpose and when we put it to some stress, it held up very well. Appears to be well made and fits and works properly. Will def make working on ball joints a lot easier and was a good value to add to our toolbox!

I ordered this tool to assist with a DIY lower control arm replacement. Unfortunately, I was on a tight timeline to complete the job, and the tool didn’t arrive in time, so I had to use a different tool instead. As a result, this review is based purely on its appearance and perceived quality rather than firsthand experience. The tool feels solid and has a substantial heft, making it clear that it’s designed to withstand significant force. The tubular shafts that grip the lower control arm are securely attached to the “Y” portion of the tool with a thick, smooth weld. My 1/2" breaker bar fits snugly into both connectors, providing confidence that the tool will remain securely attached while applying upward pressure. I look forward to testing this tool in the future and will update my review based on real-world performance.
