  • These worked wonders immediately!!
Pattern Name: Green Double Sponge Filter
This filter is superb, it worked immediately right in-front of my eyes. Within minutes the water was very clear and the sponges very dark. the good thing is all I had to do was remove them, rinse them off with water only and put them back. I strongly recommend these filters. I would advice anyone to buy the coloured ones instead of the black ones because you will actually see when they need to be washed because the colour will get darker. ... show more

  • Great Sponge Filter. Will Purchase Again!
Pattern Name: Green Double Sponge Filter
I'm new to sponge filters, so still observing and learning. I like to try out different types of filtration. But leaning more towards sponge filtration. I purchased this originally for a small 5 gallon tank, but ended up adding to my overstocked 20L community Guppy tank. The sponge filter I originally used support the tank (different brand) I found could not handle the load. So, I added this filter to the tank and it's made a world of difference. On a tank with with the proper amount of fish, I believe this filter could support the tank on it's own. I like the fact that this filter comes with chambers to allow for other media. Be advised, they are small chambers, but I have added floss in the past and it worked great. I plan on purchasing a second one for a 5 gallon Marineland tank that had an awful built in overflow filter that I just recently removed. I also also use two different size airline tubing in my tanks. I found the 3/16 inch works well with this filter. I'm using a Whisper (100) with two 4-way air flow control lever valves connected to it. This is more than enough air flow to support two sponge filters in the 20L, as well as several small 5 gallon tanks. ... show more

  • A great Filter for new or experienced Aquarists.
Pattern Name: Green Single Sponge Filter
We have bought 2 of the singal sponge filters so far. Plan on buying more in the near future. We live the design of these. The only downside in my opinion is the ceramic balls. They seem to choke up the water flow quite a bit. Going to get something else soon and will try to report back. Currently we have the horizontal single sponge version in our 10 gallon and a vertical single sponge in our 5.5 gallon quarantine tank. What I would like to see change is the ceramic balls to something else and better description. Currently all versions are suggested for no more than 20 gallons. I will suggest you get a quality air pump. They will work with a weaker pump, but it will chug. PS, sorry for the poor photo quality. ... show more

  • Warning
Pattern Name: Green Single Sponge Filter
This filter comes with no instructions. It's obviously easy to put together and install, however, there's nothing about prepping ahead of time. I rinsed everything well and installed it, and within two days two snails were dead and the fish were dying. The fish are now in a sick tank but it's questionable whether they are going to survive. What I recommend is setting this filter up in a container of water separate from the aquarium, and letting it run for at least several days. Maybe even try water changes during that time, to make sure the pellets, sponge, etc. have no chemicals or dust or something similar, before placing in your fish environment. Not sure if that will help, but it's certainly better than installing it and losing your fish. ... show more

  • Works great
Pattern Name: Green Double Sponge Filter
The media could not be loaded. I Just purchases This Sponge filter, used it in my 150gallon aquarium and seems to be working greatly! Was so easy to put together and install. Makes my tank look so much better and it doesn't have all the worry with changing filters and cleaning all that. Quite and doesn't have a lot of the spray that usually gets on the light fixture. Would I recommend this product? Based on the experience that I would definitely recommend this aquarium filter. ... show more

  • Best filter for Bettas!
Pattern Name: Green Double Sponge Filter
This is the BEST filter I have used in my 10 gallon Betta tank. I bought the double. I have used hang on back filters, internal filters. Tetra to Marineland. If they were powerful enough to keep the aquarium clear, my poor Betta would end up stuck to it or having shredded fins. Not with this bad boy. My 10 gallon currently houses 2 African Dwarf Frogs and a black orchid betta. Water is CRYSTAL. No strong currents. The media that comes with is more than enough. I was even able to take some out and throw in some a small bag of carbon to remove some medication. Great filter! I will likely buy a couple more for my 75 gallon community tank. ... show more

  • Great little filter, great value
Pattern Name: Green Single Sponge Filter
I love this little filter. I've been using it in a 3 gallon tank. I love that I can take the entire thing apart to clean it. I suggest one thing - the amount of ceramic balls I received were too many to fit easily into the compartment for them, so be aware of that. If you try to jam them all in, you'll crack the plastic when you try to close it up. Just be smart and gentle with the plastic and it won't break on you. I've taken it apart 3 times now to move into different tanks, and switched to and from a salt tank and back to freshwater a couple times. It was easy to clean and move around. Even had no problem washing the ceramic balls by dumping them into a colander and then putting them back into it. The tube goes up and down pretty easily to adjust the stream of water. It's a great value for the money. I'd buy another one. Really pleased with mine. ... show more
