  • perfect so far
these took me a little bit of time to figure out as the directions certainly leave some to be desired. there is some videos on YouTube that helped a bunch. install was pretty easy to figure out unlocking them is tricky if you don't know how. flip them open and there is a little plastic tab, use a key or screwdriver to pop it up and they come loose. I have not had them come loose in the past month or 2 of use. I have a Honda fit and they fit nicely on the roof. i couple this with a snowboard attachment to hold our boards when I have more than one other person coming. boards fit inside with both rear seats folded down but if I need the back seat up I need to put the board up on the roof and has worked very well so far.. They do add a bit of a whistle and mpg will drop a couple points but they come off pretty quickly if once you know the trick. Being a smaller car the pads that grip the window were fairly long and the rubber cover was pretty stiff since i was installing them in the winter and it was very cold. It was causing the straps to bow and not lay flat, i simply cut a couple ribs of the accordion rubber off and they laid flat and far easier to tighten. overall no real complaints as the small downsides were far outweighed in the cost of these over other options that are 5x the cost ... show more

  • Cheap but gets the job done.
Locking integrity is cheap. It’s come undone while driving. I wish it had more padding to protect the paint on the car.

  • Measure your roof, don't ask google, easy assembly, user guide lacking, but works great.
I treat my little Corolla like a work horse. I don't have a truck, and I don't like asking for favors or depending on other people. I already own a strap on foam style roof rack system that I use with my metal cage. The foam ones are nice, but they are bulky and take a long time to put up and take down. When I came across these, I thought they would be exactly what I wanted. Something that isn't bulky and can install or unmount in seconds. My first thought when I opened the package was it felt durable. It's the same aluminum style pipe as my buddys roof rack on his construction truck. The pipe also has a rubber top to keep stuff from sliding and helps prevent scratches to whatever you have on it. It did come in a few pieces and required a very minor assembly. The assembly is very quick and easy. They included a step by step assembly / user guide with pictures. This came with 2 different style clips. Before assembling, you can check the fit and use the clips that are best for your vehicle. Then, you slip the metal ratchet strips into it. Just be sure to have the ribbed part the right way. You need the ribs on top for the pins to grab it. If not, it may loosen up on its own, and that will be your fault. I also recommend adding a couple of metal washers rather than relying on the cheap plastic piece. I will show this in my pictures. I like that the roof mounts have a rubber cover to prevent scratches to your roof. I also like that they swivel to fit any curve and style roof. Although the assembly guide was great, the user guide portion was lacking. It says you crank the lock back and forth to ratchet the metal straps tight. The ratchet doesn't work until you have the straps semi tight already. The guide also didn't mention how to remove the metal ratchet straps. I've noticed a lot of people have had issues removing these. After trial and error, I found that you want to open the lock, pull the red tab back, and then close the lock to hold the red tab in place. This will free up the straps for easy removal. I suggest playing around with it before installing it on your car to prevent any mishaps or damage. Unfortunately, I was at work when I ordered this and did not have a chance to measure my roof. I did a quick google search, and google said my roof was 43 inches. So I thought this was perfect. After getting this setup and putting it on my roof, I noticed I was just shy of being able to use this. This is not the product or sellers fault. This is my fault for not taking a physical measurement before I ordered. I am very bummed because I love this little roof rack. It's not a rack you want on a show car. The pieces aren't perfect looking, but they work great and are exactly what I wanted. Now, this roof rack is on my fathers pickup truck, and I'm back to using my foam racks. I'm sure I could've fabricated this to work with my car, but I'll just order one a bit small. I took some pictures of this before I gave it to my father. I don't have picks of it on his truck, but I will try to come back and update this when I get some more photos. My father and I like these a lot. I am deducting a star for the couple of reasons I mentioned earlier, like the lacking user guide, but it's still a great rack. ... show more

  • Excellent value and very functional
Works great on my Honda Fit. Took a little bit to figure out the ratchet system and get everything lined up just right, but I am very impressed with how everything on here just works and being so much more affordable and versatile than a Yakima or Thule system made it an easy decision. I did have to cut a bit off of the accordion rubber stopper to make it work with my narrow roof, but this only further shows how universal the product is. ... show more

  • Roof Rack Cross Bars
Installed on a 2016 Ford Fusion Things I like: Materials are well made Once attached, the cross bars seem very sturdy and solid. Has a locking mechanism not only to ensure no one could take them. Once had the installation directions figured out (see below), it was fairly quick and easy to install. Things that could be improved Directions a bit lacking. Not as detailed I would have liked. Had to "read between the lines" In order to tighten the roof rack to make it secure, there is a ratcheting mechanism to tighten. Very difficult to release. We had to adjust the positioning and it was quite difficult to release the tension to move them. Would have been nice to have some sort of quick release button. Over all the cross bars seem to hold up pretty well and holds my kayak good and secure. ... show more
