My dad in his late 70s just had major back surgery from scoliosis that was causing him to lose feeling in his legs. He has been doing awesome in physical therapy but still has bad cramps in his legs that wake him at night. Since his legs are still weak I got him this to help with exercising his legs, since he cannot effectively do it himself. The machine has 3 automatic modes (speeds) and one manual setting that has multiple speeds. The manual setting still moves the pedals but allows for you to do it yourself with some resistance, so not as automatic as the auto settings. I tried it myself and while I didn't feel a legit workout from it, I definitely felt some use in my muscles so it is definitely working the legs. It's solid and looks fantastic. It's super easy, just press a button and it goes, press stop to stop. Easy enough, and the remote makes it easier.
