I put this on my futon couch/bed because I have a pet that occasionally decides to pee on it. After unfortunately having my pet pee on it again with the cover, I can say there was no damage to the mattress underneath. Clean up was easy just dried any excess liquid and threw it in the washer. Didn't even stain the cover however I was quick to throw it in the washer after it was soiled. I also was able to put this on my futon matress with futon cover on top of it without any issue. It does only cover one side of course, so if you put it on a couch futon like I did, make sure you have the cover side facing the right direction. You do kind of notice the cover's material underneath as its thicker and plastic basically, but I would rather deal with that then ruining my mattress.

We bought the "Full Futon" size for a 4 inch mattress topper that we are using for the back of our vehicle for sleeping for a couple of nights and fits perfectly. We are traveling to an event and can't find a good hotel available so this was our next best thing. I have bought from this company before for temporary/guest bedding and have been happy so far. We washed twice before adding to the mattress for added softness and it washed fine both times. Haven't spilled anything so can't say anything about the waterproofing but hopefully some protection if we did accidentally spill something from reaching the foam mattress.

I wish it was a zip on and covered both sides for when I flip the futon. It only covers one it’s more like a thin mattress cover. But it should help under a futon cover which is why I purchased it.
