  • Perfect!
Color: brown
I’m very pleased with this ukulele. It’s perfect for practicing quietly through headphones. The build quality is fantastic, with excellent tuning hardware. It also seems to play very easily—more easily than any of my others—with less effort required to play the more challenging barre chords. It’s so much easier to play than my acoustic ukes that it almost feels like I’m cheating! The included Nylgut strings are also nice. They’re soft and light and really work well with the stable, concentrated weight of the body. Beyond headphones, I’ve only played it through a tiny speaker and it sounds fine. I think this is a really nice instrument, especially considering the price. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking for the option to practice quietly and I think it would certainly hold its own in an electric group setting. ... show more

  • Great features and fun to play but not perfect
Color: brown
This Uke is great to play. Through an amp it sounds beautiful, and you can even get good crunchy sounds if you use the dirty setting on your amp. I don’t have any foot pedals or stomp boxes, but I imagine you can make it sound however you want. It is amazing that the invisible pick-up can get it to sound so good. The Uke is easy to play, and both the volume and tone controls work fine. The Uke arrived with a piece of sandpaper. I used the sandpaper to ease the edges of the frets and the fret board, which were pretty coarse upon opening the box containing the Uke. And like others have said, the Uke was not packed very well. A box inside a much larger box, with only a piece of brown paper to help keep the smaller box from rattling around the larger box during shipping. It is great that it comes with a strap, but the included tuner only worked on the C and E strings, and unreliably so. I threw it away. I noted that the G string was buzzing when played open, and the C and E strings buzzed when fretting the first two frets. After watching many YouTube videos and applying their techniques, I determined that I had two problems: 1. The G string was buzzing in the nut (the white plastic component that holds the string above the fretboard near the tuning pegs). The fix was fairly straightforward - I needed to file back the slot in the nut so that the string was suspended by the edge of the nut nearest the tail of the Uke. Luckily, I had a veneer saw with a very narrow plate that fit in the slot. First I marked the string slot with a narrow mechanical pencil so I could see what I was sawing away. Then, I angled the saw back and slowly gnawed away the portion of the nut in the slot that was suspending the string too early. No more buzz, and I didn’t change the height of the slot. 2. I used a small but reliable straight-edge and determined that the third fret sat a bit too high. I made a sanding tool using a 1/4” thick straight piece of plywood and 400-grit sandpaper. I glued a small piece of sandpaper to the edge of the plywood, then glued two additional pieces of sandpaper to either side of the first piece of sandpaper, but I glued them on with the coarse side against the plywood. This gave me a 1/4” wide sanding tool to gently sand down the fret while the other pieces of sandpaper (being the same thickness as the middle piece of sandpaper) served to keep tool level with the 2nd and 4th frets. Before I began sanding, I marked the entire 3rd fret with a Sharpie so I could monitor my progress. Buzzing eliminated. I was able to perform both of the remedies without removing the strings. I just loosened them and pulled them aside. Once I got rid of the buzz, I love playing this Uke. Could I just have returned it to get one that didn’t buzz? Sure, but who knows if it would have been any better… Lastly, I used a white non-woven pad (available at hardware stores and woodworking supply houses) to soften the edges of the wood, which were slightly sharp. The non-woven pad softens the corners while removing a minimal amount of clear finish. Photo of the sanding tool above. I recommend this electric Uke, but be prepared to set it up yourself a bit. ... show more

  • Smaller than I thought it would be, but surprisingly good
Color: brown
It just arrived, and I haven't had much time to paly it, but in a few minutes I've decided it's pretty good. I thought it might be a real piece of junk, but I was pleasantly surprised. The build quality is good. It's tiny, but cute, and plays well. No seriously sharp fret ends. The preamp works. The amplified sound is not bad. And being a Prime member, I got it for $111. If I played in a band, I would play this on stage, other than the fact that it looks stupidly small on me. ... show more

  • Fun to play
Color: brown
Once you get everything broken in, it is fun to play. Get some buzz on the strings. The pick up could be better. Hit and miss if it will work. Have to play with plug to get the contacts to mate. Yes the frets do need to be sanded down.

  • Beautiful
Color: brown
I haven’t had an opportunity to use with an amp, however it’s a gorgeous instrument and tunes easily. Sturdy body, neck and beveled edges make it easy in your fingers.
