I've owned alot of ugly stiks and recently went to carbon poles since I like fishing lures. 1 of the high priced poles broke while cast hard into heavy Spring winds. I knew my past Uglies always lasted so decided to try their carbon. It's slightly heavier but $ way lighter. I've been whipping as hard as i can for a few trips and even hooked a 4' shark. It held for 20 minutes before I lost him. Still kicking. I bought the wifey the short 5.5 rod since she's short, so far she loves it and seems to cast better than the 6.5 she had. Better watch out before she out fishes me and I'll never hear the end of it. ... show more

I ordered a st croix rod originally, it came in broken shipped it back, and tried this rod, wow am I amazed on how this rod feels and works at 1/3 of the price . Love it so much I bought 4 more. Well I was bass fishing with this 5’6 ugly stik carbon paired with a cadence ideal 1000 with 20lb braid and hooked this monster carp. I was actually surprised with the strength of this setup at no point did I feel outgunned. I love this rod.
