Very nice heavy and durable rod. Was looking for a heavy pier/ surf rod and this is definitely perfect with a 6000 series pen reel. Long grip for extra leverage

    • I think the rods were fine but the handling ruined them.
Style: 8' - Medium Heavy - 20-40lb - 2pc Size: New Model
I bought two of these rods for a trip to Texas. Both showed up broken. The gel coat was split on both tips and one had a major chunk taken out of the handle. I ended up taking rods I already had and returned these. I have other ugly stick rods and they are fine, but I would not buy one of these sight unseen again from Amazon ... show more

    • Rock‑Solid Reliability and Great Sensitivity
Style: 8' - Medium - 12-20lb - 2pc Size: New Model
Ugly Stik rods are rock‑solid reliable, and this one is no exception. I own several in different sizes, and every time I pick one up, I have full confidence it will handle whatever I’m using it for. Despite their toughness, these rods are surprisingly sensitive, allowing you to feel subtle bites while still having plenty of backbone when you need to lean into a fish. The 7‑year warranty says a lot about the brand’s faith in their products, and it’s one of the reasons I keep coming back to Ugly Stik. This rod is a great example of why they’ve earned such a strong reputation among anglers. ... show more

    • Great rod. Butt section is a bit too long for my preference.
Great surf rod. Super long, probably a little more than I need, but the extra length will help get bait further out. If anything, I feel like the butt section is too long. Not a huge deal, but I really think it could be taken down like an entire foot and it would be perfect. I may cut it down myself. Caught several bluefish, pompano, flounder, crabs, pufferfish, and redfish on it and it is in as great of condition as it was when I received it. It fishes. ... show more
