I ordered these for my Lifetime Tahoma 10' kayak to upgrade it to a little fishing rig. They fit right behind the seat perfectly (after drilling the kayak with a hole saw) and plug up nice and flush looking. They weren't terribly expensive but the quality is there. They come with gaskets and screws, and I really love that you can close them when not in use.

My son got these for his birthday so he could turn his little kayak into a fishing kayak. I was informed that they work well and hold his fishing pole well but still would would like an actual fishing kayak as your body position is different in the fishing kayak and more comfortable and easier to maneuver your catches. I was impressed how easily they installed. You do have to drill a hole through your kayak.

The many great reviews are well-deserved. There are no instructions, as others have noted, but the only real question is how to drill the hole and what size hole saw to use. Watch YouTube on the easiest way....basically you lay the rod holder down on its top and align your drill with the angle (30 degrees or 15 degrees) and drill at that angle. If you are angling correctly, a 1 3/4 inch hole saw is the correct size. It gives you an oval that the tube fits in snug and the top lays flat. A 2" hole saw that many have used, if angled, ends up way too large. If a 2" hole saw is used perpendicular to the surface (straight down, no angle) that is a a little better fit but sloppy, and the top flange isn't quite flush so you'll end up opening up the hole a bit, making it unnecessarily oversize. So use a 1 3/4" hole saw, angle it, and you'll have a good snug fit.

For the price you're making out like a bandit. Very strong plastic. Very simple to install. Like others have stated, 1-3/4" hole saw at a slight angle. The flange you screw down allows for some serious wiggle room so your hole doesn't have to be the cleanest. All in all, 11/10 rating in all seriousness.
