  • How to Not Break Your Rod.
Style: 5'6" Ultra-light/Fast 2 Pc.
I have the 5'6" ultra light pole. If you do not match your line and drag to your pole, it will break. It is the fishing line that breaks the pole, not a stump or a fish. If you go to St. Croix website it has a chart for what pound test line is appropriate for each pole. For mine it was 4 to 6 lb line. I opted for a 4 lb line. Then your have to set your drag to 1/2 that or less which for me was a 2 lb drag. Then instead of breaking -- the drag releases. Braided line? Your pole will break. Fishing for bass with a pole rated for 4 lb test? Your pole will break. Using 20 lb line with a 10 lbs of drag? Your pole will break. While its simple math, this much may be true: you may not be smart enough to know better. For the small ultra light use 4 lb line and a 2 lb drag. There are hand held scales on Amazon you can use. ... show more

  • Design and Durability
Style: 6'0" Medium/Fast 1 Pc.
St. Crois had a reputation for design and durability. From the first time I used it I appreciated its sensitivity and strength.

  • WONT BUY ANOTHER ST.CROIX
Style: 5'0" Ultra-light/Moderate 1 Pc.
Tip snapped very easily after about who weeks of use for trout. The warranty is junk since it will cost you $60 even if the rod is still under warranty. It doesn’t do anything any other rod can’t do. Just get an ugly stick and save yourself the headache.

  • Fantastic Value
Style: 7'0" Medium-heavy/Fast 1 Pc.
This is the first St. Croix rod I’ve ever purchased. For me, this is “high end” piece of equipment. Highly recommend.

  • Just don't know.
Style: 6'6" Light/Fast 1 Pc.
I like it. I got the Triumph because I couldn't find a Premier anywhere. Its lite but I haven't weighed it. Price point is great. Cast good. Works good with my Stradic 1000. Plus St Croix warranty is absolutely the best. If its anything like the rest of St Croix rods should last a long time. Shipping is great. Came in a hard cardboard tube. 80% of my rods are St Croix. Get it if you don't want to pay more for the Premier or Avid. Can't go wrong with any of the St Croix rods. ... show more
