The R1S410 is my first subwoofer for my 98 Ford Explorer Sport. Spent a lot of time researching for a budget upgrade and decided on this one after considering a Polk Audio db1040DVC. Great price and boy, it delivers, complemented by a bridged Dual XPE2700 (150W(RMS) @ 4ohms) amplifier and an EFX SE10 sealed subwoofer enclosure. Sounds great right out of the box but take some time to tune it just right and you'll be very pleased with how well it contributes to the overall sound. Hits extremely hard and with no distortion, it actually makes me wonder why anyone would ever need anything more powerful than this. Generates crisp, clean bass - great for those who love to hear and feel their music no matter what the genre. Con: still looking for a suitable grille for it that looks good. It's weird that Rockford doesn't make grilles for their Prime subwoofer series. The Modular Subwoofer Grill looks promising. My only worry is that these grilles have a lip that goes under the subwoofer mounting flange which will leave a gap between the sub and the enclosure and result in less than optimal response. Another possible option would be to use the Polk Audio DB10G, though I am not sure if this will even have the same bolt circle diameter as this sub. I'll keep looking for a good grille and update my review when I do. But till then, I'll enjoy the sub alfresco! My recommendation: buy it! it will put a huge smile on your face! without burning a hole in your pocket, of course. Update 4/4/2013 ------------------------------------------ Installed the Modular grilles... looks great but appalling build quality. I really like the way the grille looks so I came up with a possible way to make it work.     • Oustanding Budget Priced Subwoofer
This is an outstanding subwoofer. The fact that it is so inexpensive (not cheap) on top of being such a great performer is a BONUS! I'm using a pair of them in an Audio Enhancers GMX125X dual down-fire enclosure in my Ext-Cab 2011 Silverado. The subs are being powered by an MTX TD500.1D (500WRMS @ 2Ω) Class-D amplifier crossed over at 100Hz @ 24dB/octave. I'm an SQ car audio guy and the bass from these subs is powerful yet articulate. No single note BOOM BOOM BOOM here. My listening tastes run from Classic Rock to Blues to Jazz and these subs meet or exceed all my expectations. Quite possibly one of the best bargains in car audio. Edit: 9/18/17 In the 4 years I've had these subs now I have not once thought about replacing them. IMO they're still that good. Money well spent! Edit: 9/25/17 I converted the enclosure from a sealed type to an aperiodic type by placing a DIY resistive vent behind each sub. WOW! what an improvement it made. I thought the bass was tight before. The aperiodic design has tightened things up even more. If you're more into SQ than SPL car audio you owe it to yourself to look into an aperiodic enclosure design.     • Great little 10-inch sub
Used this to make a very modest budget system. Exceeded my expectations! My old system was about 800 watts RMS, 2 12 inch PowerAcoustics and that rocked, so when I stepped down to just 150 RMS and a 2 inch in a sealed truck box I wasn't expecting much. You certainly aren't gonna be bumpin' like crazy with this thing, but it does offer a very complete, full sound to music. I listen to a lot of bass-heavy music (drumstep, drum n bass, hip hop) and this performs very well. This thing actually will give you a noticeable thud with the right song and the right settings. Would definitely buy it again for a budget build, and for the price you really can't go wrong!! ... show more

I like my bass tight,punchy and to fill in the bottom end,not over power it. I'm using a MBQUART FX1.400 1 Channel Amp(also bought on Amazon) to power it. I have the gain only half way and 0 bass boost(on headunit or amp) This sub sounds great! It will hit hard, tight and stay musical. I have it mounted in a SychoSound sealed 10" truck box. Im sure this thing will play louder than your ears need to hear, but if your looking to impress chicks standing on the side of the road this isn't the sub for you. If you want a good sounding sub to compliment your system at a good price you will be happy. ... show more

I HAVE A 2003 FORD EXPLORER. THE SOUND SYSTEM IS FACTORY(AND PRETTY DECENT),BUT I FELT LIKE I NEEDED A LITTLE EXTRA BOOM. I BOUGHT TWO ROCKFORD FOSGATE TEN INCH PRIME SUBS FROM AMAZON(THEY CAME BACK IN TWO DAYS). I PUT THE TWO TEN INCH FOSGATES IN A SMALL SEALED BOX IN THE BACK OF MY TRUCK. I'M PUSHING THEM WITH A 1000(500 RMS) WATT SONY TWO CHANNEL AMP. WHEN I TURNED MY RADIO ON I COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT SOUND WAS COMING FROM THOSE SUBS. THEY VIBRATE MY BACK GLASS AND MY REAR VIEW MIRROR. THE AMOUNT OF AIR THESE SUBS MOVE IS UNBELIEVABLE. AND THEY HIT DEEP AND HARD WITH NO DISTORTION. IF YOU WANT HARD HITTING BASS AT A LOW BUDGET PRICE,THESE SUBS ARE THE WAY TO GO! ... show more

    • Good sounding speaker and well worth the money!
Very surprised at the sound this speaker puts out. Have to push my amp a little hard to get any real bottom out of it. Mounted speaker in a Scosche box that was .75cuft and the speaker is optimized for that exact size in a sealed enclosure. Very clear and clean sounding speaker. It is cut off from the head unit's low pass filter at 120hz 12db, and then again at the amp with 80hz 12db. I may change up the settings so as not to have double the roll off and maybe pick up some better mid-bass from it. But it does a very good job of adding some low end that my 4 door Jeep Wrangler was missing. ... show more
