  • If you need to add a 2nd PoE device to an existing PoE run outside, this is the way to go
PROs: * only device I know of that allows you to attach 2 or 3 POE devices at the end of a single CAT5e/6 run, especially when you're looking for something that is ready to mount outside. When that's what you need, this is, the way to go. * large enough that you can fit a surge suppressor in there CONs: * the box is rather large * 30W PoE budget for 3 devices is not a lot - I only manage to attach 2 devices per switch for that reason. Apparently there is also a 24W model out there, steer clear! * the mounting keyholes are ridiculously small - require a #3 screw. I ended up drilling 3 holes in the case under the switch * no management - but a management processor would take away from the PoE passthrough power so this is an excellent trade-off * only supports 24V passive PoE - presumption: active PoE would require management - see above While the box is large-ish, it doesn't look ridiculous on the side of a house. And if you need to add a camera or WiFi AP to an existing run, this does the job very nicely. ... show more

  • Ridiculously functions with only one (ubiquity) power supply and won't power other devices.
Bought this looking to supply power with 802.3af/at poe injector only to find that this device can ONLY be powered using ONE of Ubiquiti's POE injectors (POE-24-30W-G-WH). So I buy a couple of them only to find that when hanging a poe device that needs a mere 12v at < 5.5w. What a waste of TIME AND MONEY!!! ONLY BUY THIS IF YOU'RE PLANNING TO HANG DEVICES THAT CONSUME THE VERY LIMITED POWER IT SUPPLIES. ... show more

  • Nice product but I am skeptical of it's weather resistance ...
Nice product but I am skeptical of it's weather resistance as there are no gaskets to seal the interior against moisture. I imagine is relies on gravity to keep the interior dry however errant moisture is sure to corrode the interior after time. Functionality wise it works as expected. Assuming you've provided the passive 24 volt PoE it needs it lights up and works like any other desktop switch you may have used. I was able to power a UniFi G3 Flex off of it. I did not attempt to power multiple devices though that is an advertised function. As this is an unmanaged switched you'll not gain the benefits you would from a normal Unifi switch, granted this one is intended for remote installs and not robust switching. ... show more

  • Probably not what you want, absolutely MASSIVE
Other people will describe to you how they were upset with the specs. tl;dr; it works with Unifi 24v passive to power cameras and other devices by splitting a single drop into three. Perfect when you only have a single run but need multiple devices and also have 24v passive. Besides the power requirement, my issue is how gigantic this thing is, most of it is a waste of space plastic housing with about 2/3 of it being hollow. It's "water resistant" only because of how much dead space there is. No sealing or coating to be found so it will likely fail in anything but the mildest of climates. Size might not be a deal breaker for some but I was hoping to be a little more discrete with my install. At the end of the day you probably want "Switch Flex" not the "NanoSwitch". ... show more

  • dependable
Ubiquiti product very dependable. Prices going out of sight.

  • Unmanaged
Typically the white ubiquiti gear is the unifi product line and managed. In this case it's not. The switch works fine for 4-port pass through but I had a desire to vlan tag the traffic. Perhaps I had unrealistic expectations for this product but it's not amazing for being old, 1-port technology. This only supports 24v POE which is not a standard. You will need a ubiquiti POE switch or an injector. It does just work though. I have it running outside for a Christmas light display switching networking on a Raspberry Pi and a falcon F16v3 controller back to my main 16-port POE switch. ... show more

  • As Advertised
I installed mine in the attic running two G3 Bullet Cameras and one Mesh AP. The NanoSwitch is connected to my 24 Port 250 watt switch via ethernet and then I branch off from the switch to my two cameras and AP. Does exactly as advertised and should hold up well in the attic. It is not a managed controller so will not show up in the Unifi interface but its only 40$! Overall love the product and works exactly as advertised. ... show more

  • Great little switch for 24volt devices
Fantastic product for splitting 24volt PoE. We used for a roof install with a nanobeam and two G3 cameras. Things to note, this is not a managed switch so everything needs to live on the same VLAN. Second for everyone in the reviews complaining this doesn't support ‘standand poe’ this product never claims too. It clearly says for 24volt and if that fits the need it’s perfect. ... show more
