Nugget ice has a soft texture, so it melts more easily than cube or bullet ice. This is normal and the ice can be used as usual. Why is there an occasional chirping sound during operation? This is the normal sound of ice being released from the evaporator. No action is needed. Why is my ice maker producing ice very slowly compared with other people’s feedback? Under certain ambient and water temperature conditions, our ice maker has an initial ice-making average around time of 6–15 minutes. If your ice-making speed is significantly slower, please check the user manual , ambient and water temperature. Why is my ice maker making ice with a sandy or slush-like consistency? Note: Using water with high minerals, impurities, or added sugar can cause sandy-textured ice. We recommend using filtered or distilled water, and try to conduct continuous testing for no less than 30 minutes. The product comes with 8 packs of cleaner. How often should I clean, and where can I buy more after I run out? We recommend deep cleaning every two weeks. This 100% beats the heck out of the Frigidaire Gallery countertop nugget ice maker I had. The ice making is faster, the nugget quality is better, cleaning is easier AND it is waaaaay quieter than the other one. Let's start with the speed of the ice making. Within 15 minutes I have ice. Enough for at least a cup. The nugget: soft, easily crunchable, perfect sized just like that Sonic ice! Noise is basically non-existent compared to my previous machine. I don't even know this one is running most of the time unless I look over and see the display. Cleaning: It comes with packets for cleaning. Pour one in, set it to clean and in about 7 minutes it is done. I run mine with the same packet twice then drain via the easy to access drain plug in the bottom of the water well. Then I rinse twice and start it making ice again. I have an alarm set.for a reminder to clean it monthly, but I dont really need it because I can tell by the way the water looks in the well that it needs cleaning. Also, I always make sure to wipe down the sides of the well and wash the ice basket once monthly. I wish I hadn't wasted my money on the Frigidaire. Their warranty is a joke because it is no longer made by actual Frigidaire. I just tossed in in the trash. I didnt even get 3 months out of it before it started screaming and dying.

Don’t buy this!!!!!

If I could NO stars I would!!!! Bought this ice maker (in November) for my husband for Christmas. Started using it in December. Cleaned as directed and loved it… Even bought a second one for my in laws in May. Then in July it stopped working. Troubleshooting completed and error message received said “contact manufacturer.” Messaged manufacturer. Never received a response. Too late to return through Amazon. So we are out $200. Just hope our in laws have better luck!

Died after 8 months, no warranty

Great product for the 8 months it worked. It died today and will not make ice. I contacted Amazon and was told that they is NO warranty statement on the detail page so I'm at the mercy of the manufacturer. Assuming I get the no-response like others, I guess its time to shop for another ice maker. I really missed that there was NO warranty, or I never would have purchased it..... UPDATE: Changed my review from 2star to 5star. I contacted Typhur and they got back to me the same day. I provided my order #, a pic of the product serial number, and my address. About 4-5 days later a NEW ice maker was on my front porch! Could not be happeir with my purchase!

Update: 1 email to the manufacturer and they rapidly sent a new unit, and a label to return the one woth issues. This new one seems squared away. It produces significantly more ice, and faster. Mistakes and problems happen, how they handle them is the measure of true overall quality. And they nailed it. I would highly recommend thos product now. Knowing it does indeed work very well. And if you have issues, you will be taken care of. DO NOT buy this. 1 month 10 days, so i cannot return, as its 10 days passed the cut off.. the unit simply stops making ice, isnt insulated one bit so it is in a comstant state of rapidly melting and remaking the same ice. Capacity is about 2 scoops of ice. Small scoops. And at 1 month 3days it started screaming loudly. So loudly you cannot have a conversation near it. Now it's happening daily. For hours . Unplug for 1hr. Plug back in and it'll be good for a few hours.. My last nugget ice maker lasted 4 years. This one 4 weeks.

Short life span

We really liked this ice maker. The good-the water reservoir and ice basket are larger than in our last one, so we only refilled this one maybe once a day (family of 4). The ice didn't build up on the side and trigger the ice maker full shut off like our previous one. It is quieter than our last one too, and seemed to make ice just as fast. The bad-it doesn't turn itself back on as the ice melts and refills the water reservoir. The really bad-we've only used distilled and RO water in it. We've been fighting with it for a couple of months now to get it to make ice. We've cleaned it over and over with the cleaning solution. We also cleaned the vents as suggested with a vacuum and compressed air. It's to the point that it literally makes 2 ice cubes every time we start it, and that's it. We bought it 6 months, and we're giving up on it. We'll try another brand.

Great for the price!

Would give 5 stars because it makes good ice and fast. Pros chewable ice within 30 mins from turning on. Cons. Little noisy, it requires manual adding of water, pro and con here it has a feature where when it fills up with ice, it automatically turns off so that it's not just cramming ice in there. As well as another safety feature when there is not enough water, it automatically turns off so the pump doesn't burn out. What this means though, is, when you turn it on, it will create ice and fill up and stop. Per the instructions it's recommended to use the ice right away after it's made. But for the average household, you will not use all the ice and thus the remaining ice will melt, and when it melts enough. If there is enough, it will turn back on and start making ice again using the water reservoir which the melted ice will refill somewhat. When it does run out of water, it obviously won't turn back on so there is a chance that you could come back and not have ice. Buying this ice maker would be a good choice. If you have a set schedule of when you want ice normally. For example filling your cup before work. Keep water in the reservoir very short periods of time. Because you don't want stagnant water. She turns it on when she makes her coffee in the morning, she'll grab ice before heading out the door. At this point, she can either leave it on or turn it off while at work.And as soon as she gets home from work, she turns it back on until we go to bed.
