  • Very affordable portable TV
For the price, this is an excellent device. its not a HD screen, but good LCD Screen. At certain angle, the screen washout the image when its light colors, and gets black tones, when there is dark colors, again because is an LCD material. The audio is mono in two small speakers, very decent. I can hook into my portable speaker via auxiliary, it defies the purpose of "portability" oh well, I love to have it in high volume when I am alone. Did I mention, it is also an FM Radio? ;-) . The AV input works fine when I hook any other device, like dvd player or VCR. I am not sure about gaming since I don't use it for that purpose. The antennas does not have very potent signal. You are gonna miss some channels, and you need to go high ground, like a building, in order to obtain best signal channels, or hook to a much potent antenna. I only use it to watch the games when I am at work, and midday news. The remote control is super generic. I feel difficult to use the remote, its more easy to work with the buttons on the screen. The battery life is fair, despite reading some reviews that the battery doesn't last I guess it depends on the device). Fair, if not good, investment if you want to avoid those stream app subscriptions, these portable TVs are good to watch your favorite shows (if they are broadcast) and you are gonna save money for those sports subs apps and watch them live. A nostagia for boomers, a good conversation starter for some millenials and generation X, and a discovery for generation Z. ... show more

  • very clear picture, easy set up, Great value, and a perfect emergency backup
wow! portable, small footprint/but large screen, many accessories! I was curious about small t.v.'s and always wanted one.Power goes out in my area 2-3 times in a summer, so I bought this to watch local news when that happens. Upon opening I was surprised to see all the included antennas, remote, batteries, cables ect...! I connected the magnet mount antenna to scan channels and was able to get 64 channels.....you know all the locals and the .1's channels. the picture of this tv is so very clear! the speakers are a bit "tinny" but that's ok-I plugged in headphones and that sound very well!! I wanted you to see the quality of the picture, so I took pics with this against my vizio 70". I get best recepition with the non telescopic antenna. But after channel scanning I switched to the telescopic antenna/and some weak signals show pixels as complained by other reviewers here. For the $ this thing is amazing! The "lines" you see in some of my pics were picked up by my iphone camera/they are not there while viewing. ... show more

  • Good but weak audio
The 7" Tyler TV is very good and packed with features. Picture is great and there are many options available to use it with various inputs etc. The only weak point is the audio output. It might be ok if you kept it very close and there was no other noise around but in my case it was too weak. Easy solution however, I bought a small amplified speaker for about $12 on Amazon and now it will fill a room with sound. ... show more

  • Versatile and functional, works great with a Roku stick.
This is pretty handy. I got it for the HDMI input, so that I can hook a Roku stick to it, and it does great. The USB port powers the Roku stuck just fine whether on battery or plugged in. Screen is sharp, color good, workable viewing angle is better than expected. If you want to use a media stick and play streaming music you'll want an external speaker, same if you want to use it in a noisier area, but those are not expensive. Digital TV scan and channel acquisition is pretty good with the included antenna, in my area we only have a couple stations available and it works as well as anythign else I've tried to use for OTA digital TV. Included antennas and adapters cover all the bases. I plan to use this as a little media box in my garage, it will be great. ... show more

  • Doesn't pick up all available channels
I wanted to use this little TV to help align my roof antenna. It has a signal strength meter, and its portability makes it easy to see the picture quality. That was the intent. Here's what really happened: I spent WEEKS trying to align my antenna, because I knew that one tower, 15 miles west, broadcasting MeTV, was a low power transmitter, and I was trying to get it for my living room. I pulled in towers all over the Portland area, but that one little one was the only one I really wanted. My bedroom signal was perfect from that tower, and that used a flat, wall antenna. Here I was trying to use a rotating antenna on my roof with this little TV, and it was like that channel didn't exist. 2 weeks. Finally, I got the idea to try this Tyler TV in my bedroom, AND IT DID THE SAME THING, completely ignoring that tower. Connected the bedroom antenna back to my BR TV and bang, MeTV. 35 other channels on the little one, but not the one I wanted. Lastly, I ran the roof cable directly to my living room TV (55"), and, bang, MeTV. Perfect signal. I guess the Tyler tuner has a filter to ignore stations broadcasting at a specific wattage or lower. Anyway, the company never responded to my support request (and, if you look at the other 1 star reviews, you'll see that that's common). The folks at pbd (the antenna company) were extremely helpful, giving me troubleshooting ideas, and also came up with the idea that the Tyler TV was at fault (but I got there first). If you're happy getting THE BIG CHANNELS (NBC, etc.) then this little TV might be for you, but I wouldn't rely on it for anything low power. It gets one star because it didn't do the thing that I specifically needed it to do. ... show more
