Pros: - OLED - Dolby Vision - Responsive interface - Adapative Sync (G-Sync, FreeSync Premium) - 120hz for latest gen consoles and gaming PCs is fantastic. - Soundbar/Sound System compatibility is easy to setup (once located...) and reliable. My cheap Vizio soundbar has next to zero issues being connected and I only need the one remote to control the volume/mute functions. - The very small bezel size means the size of the screen is almost the size of the entire TV. - Best TV I've ever seen and the sale price I got it for was 200% worth it. Cons: - "Smart TV" functions and "Settings" menus are inconsistent. This is a pretty universal problem with smart TVs in general and this one is no exception. For example: to rename inputs or adjust universal remote settings, these are frustratingly difficult settings to find because they're not located in the Settings menu at all. They're instead located in the "Hub" home menu. - The settings menu itself seems very inconsistent with certain settings difficult to find or outright placed in unrelated submenus. This is likely just a personal issue but a frustration I've dealt with nonetheless. Not really a pro or con but attaching VESA mounts is a little nerve-wracking with how small the bezels are, how beautifully glossy the screen is, and how amazingly thin the housing is. Not a paid review. I have wanted a OLED ever since they came out. I am a tech geek. I like nice things. I like a premium experience. I really don't watch much TV so I really never bit the bullet until now. I am in a better position to make the purchase so I went with it. I ended up going with the 55". I've wanted one for at least a year. Software/Layout: Software is incredible. Layout is easy to learn and easy to use. Definitely a good experience. Software seems to be updated pretty frequently too. Already had two updates within a week. Pretty straight forward there. I like that it automatically puts names on the inputs for me. (Sony soundbar/Xbox). There's tons of apps on the TV and they make it so easy to use. Remote: Remote is good. Feels alright in the hand. Using the remote to move around and click things is kind of annoying so I generally just use the up/down/left/right on the remote instead to select things. The back is piano black so I suspect that the remote will scratch easy. Not a big deal. I really like that the remote has buttons for the top platforms I use to watch movies. Netflix and Prime video buttons right at your fingertips is awesome. Viewing Experience: All content on this TV looks great - regardless if the content is SD/HD/4K/UHD/HDR. I mainly use this TV for Movies and 4k Gaming on the Xbox Series X. Content on the Series S was even really great for being upscaled as well before I got the X. It looked really good. I play mostly Sports games and RPG's (like assassins' creed). I really can't put it to words how great 4k looks on the tv. Everything is just so crisp and clean looking. The Last Dance was the first movie/show I watched on it. You can see the pores on MJ's face when he's speaking. It's pretty insane. The TV just works so well on all platforms. Settings: There's a lot of customization on the TV which I like. I love making the viewing experience that much better to get that last 5% to put the finishing touches on the TV. You really don't have to do much to make it look good but for gaming I like the screen to be a warmer hue so it's easier on the eyes. The G-Sync built into the TV works great - no screen tears or nothing. I generally turn off the AI settings and just put into cinema/filmmaker mode when I'm watching a movie. This is a great all-around TV. It's excels at anything you throw at it. I have been gaming more than usual and spending more time watching movies and playing games with my friends. It's not necessarily a bad thing - sometimes you need to take a break and enjoy things instead of just work work work and go go go. I generally hate spending money on things that go down in value but I am happy with my purchase. If you're in the market for a OLED, LG is the way to go. ... show more

    • Top notch picture quality. Speakers could be better. Built for gamers
I'm giving the tv 5 stars bc this tv is great for gaming and the picture quality is so good. Only a few little but not serious weaknesses. The biggest flaw is I'm not quite satisfied with the sound quality. When gaming I don't feel the sound is balanced well so I miss out on little suttle noises. If you have a really bright living room and watch tv during the day you may want to go with the c2 or a Samsung bc this tv may not be bright enough. I have to turn the pixels up to like 80% and my room doesn't have a lot of light coming in. LG are not known for being bright. And lastly now that I have an oled tv I find myself worrying about burn in over time but we will see. All flaws aside I can tell you this tv is the best I've ever owned and I'm always impressed with the picture quality. And it doesn't get much better for gamers hdr & dobly vision gaming at 120hz. Game optimizer menue, black frame insertion. This tv definitely built for gamers. Update: decided to buy a soundbar for the first time in my life and for the price I'm paying you think LG would throw in better quality speakers or atleast sell the tv w soundbar as a bundle. I will not be getting an lg soundbar as I feel I've already paid them enough money Update: after several months I continue to be impressed w the picture quality every time I turn it on. A word of caution. I don't think this tv is meant for a bright room. During the day I turn the pixels all the way up and theirs not a lot of sunlight coming through. I primarily use it for gaming. You can use dynamic tone mapping to brighten the screen , but you will lose some shadow detail. sometimes the blacks are over powering. So if your planning on gaming in a bright room you probably should get something else. I hear the Samsung oleds are a little brighter.     • Outstanding but imperfect
Overall a great buy. No regrets, picture quality is great, software is good for the most part, and of course it's OLED goodness and awesome color rendition. It also should be highlighted how incredibly thin the screen is for the top half, yet it feels sturdy and not like it's just going to bend. Truly just disappears from edge on. Software usability is good overall, for sure. Super intuitive and the magic mouse navigation works well, but even using the D-pad on the remote is very intuitive and fast. But for a brand new TV in 2021 when I bought it, there are times when the software lags a bit, especially every single time you return back to the main menu, the UI visibly lags from loading in all app content previews. It amounts to a mismatch between how ambitious the software is, and the effect it has on making the processor not feel quite adequate and like a mis-spec. Either soften the software load to better suit the processor that is in the TV, or ship a faster processor to meet the demands of the user interface. The latter can be done retroactively, so a software update could improve this experience. This might not just be software either, since the ethernet connection is only a 100 Mbit network interface, and my network switch logs transmit pause errors on my internet router's port, which means the 100 Mbit ethernet interface on the TV is bottlenecking my fiber internet from delivering content as fast as it coulld to the TV. However, when watching content, there is absolutely no buffering issues and content loads very quickly. But like I said above, I am very satisfied with my purchase and I'm impressed by the TV and how good it looks constantly. The overall experience with the software is positive and the hiccups are outweighed by the great user interface design. LG continues to deliver. ... show more

Think about that for a second. The C1 series is not LG's top of the line, but 2nd best of the line, when it comes to their OLED lineup. However, you are not losing any quality if you choose the C1 series. New for 2021, they supersede the CX series and are very similar to the CX line. There are minor upgrades, newer software and user interface, as well as some I/O. The magic remote is very nice and intuitive. If you want the best of the best, you would have to spend a little more for the EVO series. The real difference is the EVO series are a lot brighter than the C1 line. This is important if you plan to put the TV close to a window that gets a lot of sunlight. In most cases, the C1 will suffice and you will be happy with it. The screen is glossy and very reflective, so also keep that in mind. If you watch TV mostly in the evenings or in a room where you can close the blinds, no issues whatsoever. I find that you can easily get used to the reflection. Unless you're constantly watching very dark scenes, this won't be an issue. If you want a budget friendly OLED, go with the CX. If you want the latest in I/O and software with remote, go for the C1. If you want the best LG has to offer and the best OLED the world has to offer, go for the EVO panels. I went with the C1, it is a night and day difference versus no OLED screens. Forget Samsung and their marketing tactics with QLED or NANO LEDs. Nothing beats OLED. Before dropping over $1,000 on this, be aware of a few things: the TV itself is fantastic. The picture quality on a self-lit OLED is unreal with the "true black" pixels that don't light up at all, enhancing the black levels in the image. It's especially apparent when you watch a superhero movie with lots of visual effects. OLEDs are meant to be viewable from any angle, and that is certainly the case with this TV. Although, keep in mind that if your TV is directly next to (or across from) windows or doors, there will be a fair bit of glare and reflection falling on the screen (pics shown at angles). Aside from that, this is definitely hands down the best picture quality of any TV I've ever owned. I use it with my PS5 and this is frequently the best recommended TV for next-gen gaming. It comes with four HDMI 2.0 inputs, future-proofing it for all upcoming games that will run at 4K @ 120Hz. The TV is automatically able to detect the PS5 and turn on the right "Game Optimizer" settings, which you can also change if you'd like. I would suggest watching some YouTube videos about what the best settings are if you're using it with a next-gen gaming console, because there's specific things you need to turn on/off (ex: switch HDR mode to HGiG so that the TV doesn't apply a tone-mapping layer on the rendered image in addition to the PS5 also doing it). I have the 55" model and there was some assembly required to mount the TV to the base which involved drilling screws, etc. Not the easiest assembly, you definitely want two people to put it together. Setup process was pretty straightforward from there on. Now, the not-so-good stuff: the WebOS UI is quite slow and clunky. I expect a faster, smoother OS for my 2021 model TV. While yes, this is a significant improvement over the 2020 CX model, it's still slow and laggy. Installing apps is pretty simple and quick, but there's a lot of random bloat on the main home screen. There is a much nicer home "dashboard", but you have to navigate to it manually (hitting the Home button on the remote brings you to the main home screen with all the apps and ads splattered all over the screen). Also, there is no HBO Max app available on this TV (if that's something you care about). The remote also is pretty bad. You can navigate the menus using the up/down/left/right buttons OR use the remote as a mouse pointer. I personally had to tune down the sensitivity of the pointer because it was all over the place with its default sensitivity. Also, it's very easy to accidentally hit the wrong button when you're trying to hit the Back button or the Home button. The most frequently used buttons to navigate the webOS UI are actually placed in the most inconvenient spots. There's a ton of useless buttons on this remote, and because I don't have actual cable TV (only use streaming apps / smart TV features), the number buttons take up a lot of space for having no utility at all. You can't even use them as numeric inputs, you have to enter login info through an on-screen keyboard in most apps. The remote isn't even that comfortable to hold in your hand, and I'm constantly re-adjusting my grip. Given that this is the primary method of interaction with the TV, I'm surprised that more work wasn't put in to design a better remote. If you're going to be watching media through an Apple TV / Roku (or directly from your gaming console — which is what I ended up doing), then the issues with the OS and the remote are probably not a big deal for you. You'll never need to touch them and just consume all entertainment directly through the Apple TV remote / Roku remote / console media remote / controller. But be aware that some content providers don't provide the Dolby Atmos or Dolby Digital enhancements if you don't stream the content directly from the app on the TV's OS. ... show more

I'm always a little skeptical about upgrading a computer or TV, worried the investment won't be worth the improvement. It took me nine years to trade in my trusty Samsung HD, but I'm so glad I did. This television is spectacular, top to bottom, beginning to end. The picture is off the charts -- genuinely the best I've ever seen, to the point that when I see people walking out of Costco or Best Buy with any other brand or model, I have to bite my tongue to keep from telling them what a mistake they've made. Perfect blacks. Bright greens, blues, reds, whatever color you want. The picture setting options might be overwhelming, but give them some time and you'll zero in on what you're looking for. My best advice is follow someone else's advice on youtube and fine tune from there. The TV's internal speakers are pretty impressive. My last TV, much as I loved it, had godforsakenly awful speakers that necessitated a sound system. The LG's speakers probably wouldn't require a separate sound system... except the TV is capable of processing Atmos, so you're missing out on an integral part of the viewing experience (this is something I wasn't aware of until now, not having surround sound/Atmos enabled speakers). I'd say the smart TV portal is the only downside, but you get used to it with time and it's not awful. Apple TV and Roku are more streamlined with fewer to no ads, but in the end you can save yourself the $50 to $200 unless you absolutely require them. No judgments if you do. I bought the latest Apple TV along with the LG, skeptical of smart TVs, and I rarely use it. If you're worried about spending the money for this TV, all I can say is it's going to be a while before you have to upgrade again. Nothing's shot in 8K, Atmos is cutting edge without being a fad, and OLED is the high watermark of picture quality with nothing remotely near challenging it on the horizon so far as I can tell. 120 hz refresh rate and 4k. Heavy gaming in 4k and streaming. I've had this tv for 5 years and it's amazing. Very thin so be careful. Never had an issue with brightness (only when im a dark area in a video game too long the TV will automatically dim). If it breaks, I'll 100% buy another.
