Description

With its simple to use control interface and its smooth ceramic glass cooking surface, the True Induction TI-1B is one of the best cooktops on the market. Unlike most other single burner cooktops where they can only be used on the countertop, the TI-1B has the ability to be installed into a countertop. It can be installed in your boat, outdoor kitchen, apartment or simply use it as a portable unit, the possibilities of where it can be installed are endless. True Induction's high efficiency cooktop utilizes a magnetic based technology that energizes the molecules of the cookware to produce heat. This process is extremely energy efficient as the cooktop never actually produces heat. This allows the heat produced in your pan to cook food faster and at the same time use less power. Ready to start cooking? The optimal cookware for induction cooktop has a flat bottom and a diameter between 4. 5 to 10 inches. It is simple to tell if your cookware is compatible with True Induction, simply grab a magnet and if it holds to the bottom of the pan, your cookware is compatible. The most common types of induction compatible cookware include stainless steel, cast iron and steel-enamel. To install this into your countertop, the countertop cutout needs to be 14 1/4" W x 11" L.

  • Been using two of these every day for about two years.
Size: standar
Been using two of these every day for about two years. No problems so far. Wish they had one step lower heat setting for really low simmer. Easy to clean with a sponge and soapy water after doing the dishes. When cooking with cast iron or Dutch oven I place a couple layers of parchment paper underneath to protect surface from scratching and so far they still look like new. I also bought a set of True Induction's pots at the same time which are very well made in my opinion. ... show more

  • Very happy with this.
Size: standar
This is great--I bought it a few weeks ago to use for a burner while my kitchen is being remodeled. It's perfect--heats up quickly and we can cook everything we need to cook on a burner, but have the flexibility of moving it around. It is larger than I expected and quite substantial. Seems very well made. I have been using the few Le Creuset pieces with it and they seem to work well, and a few cast iron pans. My tea kettle sadly doesn't work with it but otherwise cooking w/induction has been a seamless enough process. Highly recommended if you need a burner on the go, or like with us, to help get us through a remodel. ... show more

  • Replaced a two burner in my van
Size: standar
Used a two burner for a couple of years and loved it. Switched to a single burner when I had to replace my countertop. Just wished the single burner had a lockout like the two burner.

  • Hard to read controls
Size: standar
I bought this unit (single burner version) to drop into my counter. However, before I decided to keep it, I tried using it. I was disappointed that the controls are small and not particularly well laid out. The touch screen has no feel (typical of touch screens) so you can't tell when you are on one. The graphics are small and faint; and they don't glow to help you find them. Being above a certain age, I need magnifiers which help a lot, but require that I lean over to get things in focus each time I want to make a change. Also, the touch screen controls are not grouped in a logical way so you have to learn where each item is unless you can see the small dim icons easily. The temperature indication was significantly off, but as the manufacturers of induction units say, they are only intended as guides and are not accurate. However; they are repeatable so you can learn what temperature indication has the result you want, and then set it there next time. Overall this unit worked well and had the three funtions I wanted - not typically available together in one unit. I wanted all three controls; power, temperature, and a timer. This had all three for which I give it high marks Comment: Why have both temperature and power controls? Isn't either good enough? Induction burners have a distinct advantage over earlier gas, or radiant electdric stoves - ithese allow pwer control (by turning the flame/heat up or down). With conventional stoves, you change the power to influence the temperature - but you are controling power, not temperature!. Now think of driving a car. You set the power level with the gas pedal, but you control your speed by modulating the gas pedal (power) . If you turn on the speed control, it modulates the power to maintain a speed by adjusting the power as needed. (equivalent to temperature control). Example - if you are simmering rice, you can set a simmer temperature and when you forget to check the rice in 20 minutes and the water boils away, the rice won't burn because the element will not exceed the set temperature. A conventional burner might scorch the rice under similar conditions. Also the timer is a real advantage. It could have turned off the rice after 20 minutes so you don't have to remember! All three controls are really useful and are typically found only on small countertop units, but not found on larger 4 burner induction countertops - or I would have bought one of those instead! Maybe in a few years, someone will make a 4 burner countertop (or complete range) that has all three controls. So far I haven't found such a unit! ... show more

  • Do not purchase this.
Size: standar
Reviews looked good, so I purchased this stove. Unfortunately it’s not working correctly and has been driving me insane. Regardless of the temperature setting I select, it barely heats up. Even the highest settings only heat up a tiny bit. It’ll warm up leftovers, but forget about actually cooking anything on this. Wish I could return this, but it’s past the return policy and currently installed in the countertop of my RV as i work from the road. Now I can’t cook food while working remotely. Great. I highly suggest you choose a different stove. ... show more

  • Temperature settings not very useful (or accurate), but I like induction.
Size: standar
While I like induction cooktops, I had really hoped the temperature settings would allow me to set the temperature of a simply frypan. Since the sensor is under the glass, I am guessing that it is just too slow to respond. I wanted to be able to add a small amount of oil and heat the pan to 300F. If you try this, the cooktop will just keep heating. I shut it off at 400. As another test, I just set the temp to 120F. I shut if off when the temp hit 300. It is possible this function would work on a large pot of water or stew, but for frying it is rather useless. By the way, this is my second identical unit, and both had the same response. ... show more
