  • Night vision on a limited budget
Model: SS525-PROX
I ran this scope through its paces one evening and was genuinely impressed. The menu selections worked just like the directions stated without too much confusion. It does have some heft to it and would seem to be pretty sturdy. It should hold up well to extended use. The rechargeable battery held up fine and can be recharged with a simple USB-C cable. I did not try out the recording function as I didn't have the micro flash card with me but there is a 32 GB included in the package. It is a heavy unit but the mounting system seems to keep the weight near the center of my rifle. I could see rabbits using the night vision and the brightness was clear enough to definitely make out any targets in my field of view. The magnification is digital as there is not a power ring on the scope like most standard rifle scopes. This scope has a lot of features that I found useful, particularly the night vision. Something like this has only recently been available to the public at this price. It's amazing what it can do for $300 and seems to be a great value for the money. ... show more

  • Can’t zero and nowhere near 25x
Model: SS525-PROX
The magnification is not even close to 25x. More like a 2-6x . In the day at 40 yards I can’t see where I hit on the target with a 22. That brings me to my next issue. I maxed out the elevation and it’s still 6” low at that same 40 yards. I’ve contacted triton, we’ll see how they handle this. The scope at night isn’t bad for the money. But if I’m unable to zero it’s worthless. I can see clearly to 100-120 yards. ... show more

  • Triton StarStrike-S Pro HDX Night Vision Scope
Model: SS525-PROX
This is one of those products where the phrase "manage your expectations" should be printed on the front of the box. This night vision scope is a lot of fun, at a great price point but it isn’t a professional-grade tool. First off, let’s get the comparison out of the way. If you’re trying to stack this up against a multi thousand L3Harris or a high-end PVS-14, you’re doing it wrong. This is a digital night vision optic, which means it’s essentially a camera sensor and an LCD screen. For backyard plinking, airsoft, or even some light-duty pest control (raccoons don't stand a chance), it’s a total blast. It’s a "novelty" item in the best sense—it lets you play in the dark without taking out a second mortgage. The "Pro" Features: For a budget unit, the extra-long runtime actually holds up. Expect to get a solid 2 hours of continuous use on medium settings, and the fact that it charges via USB-C (or can run off a power bank) is a huge convenience. The IR Illuminator: The built-in IR torch is surprisingly punchy. It’ll illuminate targets out to about 150-200 yards in total darkness. Just keep in mind that since it’s an 850nm-860nm light, the "glow" from the emitter is visible to the naked eye if someone is looking back at you. The Image Quality: During the day, it looks like a standard digital camera feed. At night, the HDX sensor does a decent job, though it can get a bit "grainy" or "pixelated" as you crank up that 5-25x digital zoom. Since it’s digital, you aren’t getting more detail as you zoom in; you’re just enlarging the pixels. The Build: The aluminum frame is stout and appears to be well machined. It feels much more like a "real" scope and less like a toy. It even holds zero fairly well on low-recoil platforms like a .22LR or an air rifle. The biggest complaint I have is the field of view. Because of the digital sensor, it feels a bit like looking through a straw. It’s not great for rapid target acquisition or close-quarters stuff, but for a stationary target on a range, it works just fine. The Bottom Line: If you want to feel like a "tacticool" operator in your backyard without the $5k price tag, the StarStrike-S Pro is a winner. It’s a high-tech toy that delivers exactly what it promises—a way to see in the dark on a budget. Just don't expect it to survive a tour of duty, and you'll be more than happy with it. ... show more

  • Love love love this scope!!
Model: SS525-PROX
This Triton SS Pro HDX scope is a perfect compliment to just about any rifle. Optics are clear, it is very easy to zero and after multiple trips to the range, no adjustments have been necessary which is WONDERFUL!! This scope is usable during regular or low light situations and the reticle is bright and clear. Battery life hasn't been a concern to this point, showing no signs of slowing down after several weeks of repetitive use. Easy to mount on any pic rail and meshes well with other accessories as well!
