  • Waste of time and money. If you want to cool a small equipment room, don't buy this unit!
I've owned this unit for less than a month and it hasn't consistently worked. The compressor does not reliably run. It only reliably blows hot air in an already hot room. I contacted their technical support but was sent a questionnaire to fill out with troubleshooting steps. The troubleshooting steps did not resolve the issue. The room in question also has 2 additional cooling sources, so I'm using the unit as intended and not the primary source of cooling. In addition the included network card is ancient (circa 2014) with not available software updates. You can only connect to it via telnet or ssh (using very insecure cipher suites). The web plugin does not work in any browser because the technology has become deprecated; it uses a java applet (maybe if you are running a very old computer that hasn't been updated?). ... show more

  • SRCOOL24K Review
First and foremost a lot if not all of the prior reviews here are not specific to the SRCOOL24K. So I wanted to give a real review of this unit. The unit is well made. I bought this unit to replace another 30,000 BTU spot cooler that died recently. We installed it in our server room and used the included hardware to route the hot air exhaust out thru T Bar ceiling. We also bought some cheap tubing from Home Depot and connected both the drain holes on the back of the unit and routed it to our floor drain. Then turned it on and lowered the temperature to around 70 and put the fan on high. Must say the unit is quieter than expected and it puts out a lot of cold air. Very pleased with the unit so far. Next week I'm going to hook up the remote environmental sensor and test it out. This unit comes with everything you need except for drain hoses if don't plan on using its self evaporating feature. We elected to use the hose option because this unit will be running nearly 24/7 in our server room. Plus we already had a floor drain from the other unit. I will provide another update in a couple of weeks. So far great buy and great unit. ... show more

  • Something that costs this much should last more than a year
Unit died literally one year ago to the date purchased. Tripp Lite won't do a thing, "warranty has expired"

  • Cooling unit fail after 3 months
The cooling unit does not cool evenly and after 3 months the unit stop cooling.

  • Third one just died. Seriously.
I've had three of these die on me in the last three years, all of the exact same issue. Yes, three. Yes, all SRCOOL24K models. The first one lasted less than a year before the compressor stopped running. So, it'll blow air... hot air, around and around. Tripp-Lite did replace that one under warranty. Another year later and the replacement unit (a refurb) would no longer evaporate water from the tank, forcing me to hook up a separate water pump. Then about six months later, the compressor on that unit stopped running - just blows hot air. I swapped this one out with a colleague's lightly used SRCOOL24K, which has now completed the hat trick of compressor deaths. Three units, three compressor deaths, hot hot hot. I would suggest you avoid like the plague, but there really isn't another major player in the server rack portable AC field at this price point. I suppose you just learn to budget $3k+ for a new one of these things every year. Ridiculous. ... show more

  • Designed to fail, lasted 3 months and is not serviceable.
Not only does this unit fail prematurely, but it's not serviceable. Tripplite support actually told me to have an A/C tech service the unit and recharge it. The tech couldn't because there are no service ports. I called Tripplite back and they confirmed this with myself and the tech...AFTER THEY TOLD ME TO HIRE A TECH. They wasted $100 of my money and a few hours of my time. What a joke. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT!
We purchased this when the existing A/C units in our server room quit. This was a simple thing to hook up, just attached the exhaust to the existing vents in the ceiling and let it run. Worked great for about 18 months and then started to freeze up. We thawed it, froze up again. A/C repairman says it's not serviceable. I will never buy from Tripplite again. ... show more
