I bought 2 of these for my niece and nephew's first communion money gifts. I was looking for a nice way to give them money, after all they are kids and at least I want them to have some excitement with the gift. Material is pretty decent colors are nice and the compartment for money goes to the bottom of cube, is wide enough to put dollar bills rolled, not for a gift card though. Regarding how challenging maze could be, let's put this on the right perspective, for kids and young adults I would say they solve it in matters of minutes, no more than half hour (at least for what I observed with my family members), for me particularly (in my 40's) it took me oround an hour, at end I had to "cheat" solving maze with a sharpy (I would say being creative is not cheating ;-) ) then guide the ball thru the marked line to open the box when I was testing it, then I cleaned the sharpy with alcohol, no damage to cube. This does not mean that you have to spend time solving maze to simply put money on it for your gift. Initially they are set up to have the little ball close to the latch so you can open cube easily, be warned though, once you close it, you have to resolve the maze to open it again. Bottom line this was fun, a good piece of conversation, and kids can use it later on as a small piggy bank.

What a fun way to give cash or a gift card. Our grandson had a great time figuring out the puzzle. The box was too small to fit the gift card so we just wrote a note and made him open a second package for the card. He continued to work on the puzzle after he got the gift. Lots of fun! Great idea.

I bought this gift for a 10 year old. She is persistent and good at puzzles which is why this gift worked well. However, I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who would get frustrated. It’s definitely difficult!! I worked at it for a loooong time as an adult. I don’t know if there’s a way to pop it open without completing the maze. So, you have to be up for it.

My 14 year-old-to-be grandson couldn't give me any ideas for his birthday gift and I didn't want to send money through the mail. Saw this cube and knew it was the answer. it will be nice for him to have something to open for a change other than a gift card. The box is sturdy and although I can see it won't take him long to figure it out, it ought to be a good conversational piece. Will probably get one for the younger grandson when it's his birthday. Glad I found this!!

First, you cannot give this to someone who doesn't like challenges. That being said, I have 1 adult child who has a good enough sense of humor to do this to as a birthday gift. It challenged her, but I did think at one point she was about to just cry out of frustration. She accepted the challenge like a champ, and it made extra fun on her birthday! I had no problem getting it open to put in a folded scratch off and cash, but the scratch off had to be folded several times to get it to fit. Would be great for white elephant party too, or to be really wicked make it the first clue of a scavenger hunt!
