  • Very helpful product with some reservations.
First of all, let me state that this is my first tracking device so I cannot compare to any others. All may have similar issues but I cannot comment on that. My phone is a Samsung Note 5, 2 years old. That said: First, the really good: Customer Service. They are instantly responsive, 24/7 via chat, and when asked, send a transcript of your chat to your email if you want to save it for future reference. Second, the good, but not wonderful. I really need this kind of thing because I misplace things around the house frequently. When TrackR works, it works great. When I first set it up about a week ago, I used one TrackR. Perfect. Next day I connected 4 other items and it didn't work at all. The app would show on the map where the item was last known to be, but couldn't connect even if it was right next to me. Customer service (via chat) gave me the steps to unpair and reset all the TrackRs - a bit of a pain, but it worked well, for a while. Within a day, same problem. I then tried to check the status of the connection with my phone's bluetooth, and found I was no longer paired. So I turned off bluetooth, then back on to search, and connections were restored. So far, so good. Distance is not so good but is most likely a function of bluetooth being blocked by structures within the house. Even tho I wish my TrackR would connect and ping the device from anywhere, it is still extremely useful even if I need to walk around the house a little bit. That's far better than not being able to find the darn wallet, for example, only because it is hidden under a stack of papers. I also got a low battery warning today for one of my TrackRs which I have in my wallet. It's only been there for a few days, so if it is truly a low battery then that's not a good sign. If there is an issue with the battery next to the magnetic strips on credit cards and the like, then it's not going to be a good solution for the wallet. Battery replacement: great that you can do it, but the video they show is a little misleading. I have dry skin and could not generate enough friction to open the battery. I solved the problem with a small piece of masking tape to grab the back of the TrackR to open it. I would also suggest that you should use a magic marker and put a mark on the top of the back before you open it because it must go on in exactly the same position or it won't close and latch properly, and the manufacturing marks on the plastic are too subtle to see (at least for an older guy like me) without a magnifying glass. It was really frustrating until I took those steps. The video makes it look like a breeze but only if your hands are sticky enough to create the needed friction and only if you reinstall the back EXACTLY the way it was. Even tho this sounds obvious, the video does not indicate the need to do so. This is not a threaded connection, but rather small tabs that fit in a slot and then twist about 1/8 turn to lock. Very easy IF you get the tiny tabs in the tiny slots. (I suspect when I was younger and had my 20/15 vision this would not have been an issue. ... show more

  • Wonderful Bluetooth Trackers at Great Value, Finally
Style: 05 Pack Color: Black
I originally bought these to place in goodie bags at a Christmas party. I ended up with one left and so decided to use it. I had a Tile brand tracker on my keys that was due for replacement. Tile brand trackers require the purchase of a brand new unit when the battery dies. This was my second Tile in 18 months and I felt it was such a ridiculous waste. I was pleased to find the TrackR Pixel had a replaceable watch battery. I replaced my Tile with the TrackR Pixel. I wasn't sure what to expect since the reviews here vary wildly. The TrackR was easy to setup via the app. The configuration was quick and straightforward. My TrackR worked great as a Bluetooth tracker and is fairly priced. I decided to go ahead and get more TrackR Pixels for our remotes and tablets. With kids around, these items get lost around the house often. The TrackR securely sticks using the provided 3M double sided adhesive pad. They are also completely and easily removable. These Bluetooth TrackRs work perfectly for this scenario and we are no longer spending time searching for devices all the time. I also decided to add another to my work bag and some other items. There are straightforward settings in the app to give you a few different behaviors depending on the tracking needs of that specific unit. For Example, I have my work bag TrackR configured to aleart me should I leave it or my phone behind. There are also options for crowd locate but I haven't had to rely on that yet. The app also allows you to share your TrackRs with other accounts. This is nice so others at home can locate without me. I have 10 TrackRs all configured on the same/account phone. I am not sure if I am just lucky but I have had no trouble with setup or use. I have replaced the battery on some. Battery replacement is no issue even if you have it attached to something else. The top twists to unlock and comes off revealing the battery. You may need something to add friction to your finger to make it easier to twist the top. Length of battery life is the only concern I have left. A couple of mine needed battery replacement within 2-3 months. This initially made me worry but I got one order of these on clearance and it appeared they may have sat in stock for several months allowing the battery to deplete. I replaced the batteries and they are still showing full over 2 months later. I am very happy with these trackers and plan to stick with TrackR brand. They offer great value and don't have to be thrown away each year like with some overpriced other brands. They also meet my needs perfectly. I think some reviewers don't completely understand the nature and useage of low power Bluetooth trackers and expect something different. I do have full GPS cellular trackers for other situations. While much more expensive, I think many people need that type of a tracker for their purposes and might be want to research. ... show more
