I was in the market for getting a GPS Tracker with an alarm. I am old school, I was looking for an alarm that sounds loud and everyone can hear it. This is NEW technology, when you buy the (motion sensors ) extra. They go off as soon as the car detects any movement and the APP on your phone goes OFF LOUD. There is no excuse I did not hear the alarm. At the car there won't be any sounds. This is good because the person messing with your car will not know. Giving you time to act in which ever way you decide is safe for you. The app gives you GPS TRACKING depending on the subscription you purchase. The subscriptions are the most reasonable on the market at this moment. It also lets you set an alarm at any top speed you want. Anyone driving the car goes over that speed the alarm will go off on the APP on your cell phone. It also rates the way you drove your trip letting you know where you were speeding and where you did hard stops. The app also shows you how many miles you have driven on a monthly basis in case you want to keep track of your milage. Trips you have taken and length in time of each trip. Many more features, I just want to give you an idea on what you will get with this unit. As far as the Unit I purchased the OBDII extender and placed the unit away from my OBDII. No one knows I have the unit installed except me. Plus it leaves the OBDII open for any time you might need to access it. This unit also activates the alarm on a timer. The app lets you set up the time you want the unit to activate after you have turned off the car. I purchased the unit I also purchased sensors for each door of my vehicle as well as the tag. The TAG is one of the greatest add on I highly recommend. What the tag does is activates and deactivates the alarm automatically when you come close to your car automatically. This way you won't have to do it with your cell phone before you open your car. All in all if you want something that will not break the bank and will give you a piece of mind I will highly recommend this unit. The only thing is that in order to make this GPS ALARM work the way it is intended to don't SKIMP out on the add-ons. Buy the add ons you need because you will save on the monthly subscription and have a piece of mind. How much is a piece of mind worth it to you? **UPDATE** February, 2023- After writing the rather harsh review below and emailing CarLock, my device was updated and the cell network it talks to was changed. After that my CarLock has been working exactly as advertised. I have been paying for the service and will continue to do so. The system does a great job tracking my cars location and movement. It’s been spot on since the changes. If I still have one gripe, it’s the tag. That little thing is kind of hit or miss but it’s really not that big of a deal for me. It’s still in my center console but I have it turned off in the app. I’m changing my rating to 5 stars! To any buyers: If you have connection issues with your device when you first get it, give CarLock a chance to fix it remotely. It may take a few days but chances are they will get it to work. As of this update, I would buy it again and will recommend it to others. ***Below is my initial review based on my first week or so of having the device in my car*** I purchased this device based on the numerous rave reviews on YouTube. It was shipped very quickly and it was very easy to install. The first two days were impressive. It tracked my car for several trips and was spot on. That’s where the positives end. It was purchased to protect my car on a cross country trip to the west coast. After two days of no issues the problems started. First I left my work and it tracked me for about a block and a half then just stopped. According to the app my car was sitting two blocks from my work while I’m staring at it in my driveway 30 miles from work. No amount of app shut down, phone reboot tricks worked. My car was two block from work. Getting more and more frustrated I drove the car around the block to see if it would unstick itself but no luck. Finally I took the device apart and removed and reinserted the SIM card. That seemed to unstick it. Next morning we leave on our trip. We’ll…you guessed it. It only tracked the car for the first sections of our trip. After each stop it seemed to catch up but then would only track for part of the drive. I’m so frustrated!!! As I write this, I’m in my hotel room LOOKING at my car out the window but according to CarLock it’s parked on the highway around 120 miles away. Already pulled and reinserted the sim to no luck. As far as customer service…NO PHONE NUMBER AT ALL. Only way to contact them is via email. You can bet I sent an email and the response was automated with some mechanic link that did not remotely help and that I would hear back from a rep within 24hrs but weekend and holidays are excluded. Guess what…it’s Saturday today. Right now I’m sooooo done with this piece of junk. I’m willing to give them a chance to fix my issues but it better be a solid fix. Final thought. Awesome idea. It can detect even a slight bump or tap on the steering wheel and send you an alert. It has a smart lock feature that enables the device after 5 minutes the engine is off. Such a neat device! Easy to install and allows me some peace. We have had issues with people tampering with cars so this allows me to stay a step ahead. The GPS is exact as well. My only downside is the size, I am unable to put the port cover back on.
