  • Large screen, intuitive / easy to use, Shows AV (camera) input
Color: X4BT
My old "name brand" GPS failed, (such is life). I decided on this unit due it having the ability to display the input from a rear view camera, for hooking up trailers. Needing to replace a dead (name brand / expensive 7” GPS) my wife set the minimum standard @ 7” display, none of the name brands seem to be currently available in a 7” or larger display, and my desire to have the (rear) camera display led me to this XGODY unit.. You can see the price, and compared to the name brands this is an absolute bargain. In my full size truck the 9" display is good, however I feel it would be too large for a compact car. The AV (video) automatically displays as soon as the camera is on (input is sensed) The camera output is a male RCA connector, the input to this GPS is a 2.5 mm plug, therefore you may need to buy an adapter... "2.5mm Stereo Male to RCA Female Jack Video Adapter Cable..." these are also available on Amazon and are reasonably priced. Sadly the first cable I bought was bad, at 1st I didn't know if it was a bad cable, bad GPS unit, or a bad camera.. I bought another cable and it proved both the camera and this unit functioned properly. This unit (XGODY 9” GPS) comes safely packed in a nice hard box, with the accessories you need, mounting kit and power adaptethe lit, it includes a “carrying pouch” might be handy for the traveler. It has a manual in 3 languages, that is merely adequate. Basically I believe this “device” is a 9” tablet with GPS enabled. That said it comes with other programs / apps besides the GPS, the only other (included) programs I think will be of use to me is the FM (so audio output goes to your radio) and the music player..A savvy user may be able to add a program or app that is useful to them.. I am not that user. The bluetooth feature works, I was able to link it to my phone, however I doubt I will ever use this feature. This unit accepts micro SD cards (they say 32GB is max) I tried it out and the unit played MP3 audio, AVI & FLV video files from my 32GB “chippy” Unlike every other “name brand” GPS's I have owned it does NOT have that annoying screen that delays startup by waiting for me to confirm “I won't use the GPS while driving” or wait for 30 seconds before it starts. Therefore startup is quicker than any of the 3 name brand GPS's I have owned. It locked onto the satellites as quick as any GPS I have owned. The user interface is quite good and intuitive, even for this old man.. It is easy to enter destination addresses, and it found all the ones I have entered. This ease of use is better than the name brand (expensive) GPS's I've owned. For one of our frequent trips, our GPS's liked to route us thru Canada, this GPS does the same however it has an intuitive and easy to use feature to avoid border crossings .. Now for this particular trip this GPS easily and automatically allows us to avoid Canada, because as we all know in 2020 we can't “cut thru” Canada. This GPS has several modes, normal car, commercial truck, ambulance, pedestrian etal...The pedestrian mode seems like a descent idea however @ a large 9" and the commonality of smartphones it is unlikely many folks will be carrying this baby while on foot.. I have discovered some interesting features (programs) on this XGODY GPS that may be handy to some; such as a cross reference to various clothing sizes between various countries.. like what size Bra do you buy in Japan, Europe or Australia, that is equivalent to a US 38 DD, I never would have bought this (or any) GPS for this feature, but I do see how it can be useful to a world traveler, or a trivia buff. ... show more

  • I could no longer handle the GPS advising it was recalculating because I missed my turn !!!
Realizing that the reviews were only 3 1/2 stars I was reluctant to make the purchase but since my Garmin 770 was giving me issues I decided to give this unit a try. After figuring out how to program the unit, it was fairly easy to use and set up. The unit which was a tablet was loaded with features but there was no mention in the owners manual about how to obtain and update the Lifetime Maps and there was no mention about future software updates which I think are non existent. The suction cup that came with my unit would not hold suction. Having other GPS units I was able to adapt a Rand McNally suction cup to the new GPS hardware and get the GPS operational. In Bus mode, I ran the GPS from Bay Saint Louis Ms to Key Largo Fl with via stops for fuel and rest areas. This GPS was very unforgiving and advised it was recalculating because you missed the turn through out the trip. Even if you entered you via point, the unit continued to advise it was recalculating because you missed the turn. I stopped for propane at the flying J in Gulfport Ms which was programmed as a via point and even though the via stop was fulfilled the unit advised it was recalculating. Just to see how long this unit would continue to advise it was recalculating it recalculated for 50 miles before I finally could no longer take it. I stopped removed via points and reprogrammed the trip to my next stop, but then decided to stop at a rest area and the unit again went bonkers and began to recalculate. I returned the unit to Amazon because of the recalculate issue and also because I contacted the manufacturer about the suction cup and received a reply which was not from a US based company. They wanted me to send them a video of the issue, da, the suction cup does not hold !! From prior experiences when I had technical issues with products, dealing with a US based company can be difficult so I figured dealing with this company may be impossible. ... show more
