  • Finally! The "Plug-and-Play" Way to Smash the 1Gbps Bottleneck!
Size: 8 Port | 2.5G
I recently upgraded to a multi-gig fiber internet plan (2Gbps) and quickly realized a frustrating bottleneck: my router only had one 2.5G port, and all my other devices were stuck on 1G ports. I'm a content creator with a 2.5G-equipped PC and a 2.5G NAS, so my internal network was just as choked as my internet connection. This TP-Link TL-SG108S-M2 was the perfect, no-fuss solution. Build Quality & Design: First off, the build quality is excellent. The entire housing is metal, not cheap plastic. It feels sturdy, durable, and has a reassuring weight to it. The metal case also acts as a passive heatsink, which is critical because... It's 100% Silent! This switch is fanless. This is a huge deal for a home office or media setup. There is absolutely zero fan whine, hum, or noise of any kind. It just sits on my desk and does its job in complete silence. Absolutely Zero Setup (The "Unmanaged" Dream): This is the best part. It's a true "unmanaged" switch, which means it's 100% plug-and-play. I'm good with tech, but I have no desire to log into a web portal, configure IP settings, or manage VLANs. I just plugged in the power, ran a 2.5G-capable cable from my router's main port to one of the ports on this switch, and then plugged in my PC, my NAS, and my gaming console. The lights lit up, and everything just worked. Instantly. The Performance: This is Why You Buy It The moment of truth. Internet Speed: I ran a speed test on my PC. Before, I was capped at ~940 Mbps by my old 1G switch. Now? I'm consistently pulling 2300+ Mbps down and up. I am finally getting the full speed I'm paying my ISP for. Internal Network: File transfers to my 2.5G NAS are ridiculously fast. A 50GB video project file that used to take ages now transfers more than twice as fast. I'm seeing sustained speeds that fully saturate the 2.5G connection. Final Verdict: If you have an internet plan faster than 1Gbps, or you have 2.5G-capable devices on your network (like a modern PC or NAS), this switch is a no-brainer. It's a simple, silent, and powerful upgrade that unlocks the full speed of your entire network. ... show more

  • Excellent Industrial Grade Switch
Size: 8 Port | 10G
I picked up the 8 port one. This is a huge switch, we are talking industrial grade equipment. The pictures on Amazon don't make it justice, and I was in shock when I saw the size of this thing. It seems to be very heavy duty and this is the kind thing companies install in companies server racks and the such. The connection is top-notch, I'm getting the best speeds I have ever tested on my 2.5gb Fiber connection with it. Connection to my NAS seems to be great now as well. Also, it doesn't run hot at all. My smaller 2.5gb switch ran way warmer than this. Now the bad: It's very big, like I said, so this is not something you may place on top of your desk in a little spot. Make sure you have ample space, it's the size of a small computer. It's noisy. Not crazy noisy, but I'm already looking for another spot for it where it is not too close to me, as I can hear it a little bit more than I would like. If something changes after I use it for a while, I'll make sure to update this review. Update: At the end of the day, I opted for returning the 8 Port version and purchased the 5 port 10gb fanless version. The 8 port 10gb was too noisy for my taste, even after hiding it behind the desk and far away from my ears. The 5 port 10gb version is perfect, haven't noticed any issues so far, and it doesn't run so hot as other reviewers have said. My original review above still stands for both versions. If you don't mind the noise, the 8port one is an amazing switch and best in its class. ... show more

  • Simple setup, affordable and durable unit, does just what it needs to without any nonsense.
Size: 5 Port | 1G
Do you have one ethernet port and wish you had 5 instead? Well then look no further! My house is wired for ethernet in basically every room because once upon a time that was the only way to get internet in a room, and even though we didn't need internet in every room in the olden days, we ran the wires everywhere to keep our options open. Nowadays of course we need internet in every room, and sometimes we have several things that need the internet all at once! Sure, there's wifi, but I find wifi to be a pain sometimes, especially when signal quality can be inconsistent. I have two of these little soldiers now - one allows me to have my TV and PS5 on ethernet for better streaming and gaming experiences, and the other allows me to connect both my work laptop and personal computer via ethernet for better call quality. I'm barely tech literate and even I was able to get these things running. Just plug it in to a power source, connect the switch to the wall via the 6th port on the end, and the other 5 ports will allow your devices to connect to the internet. I was able to download Cyberpunk on my PS5 while streaming Netflix in 4k resolution and there was nary a hiccup in the playback on the TV, so whatever the maximum load is on this thing, I think most casual users are unlikely to bump into it. ... show more

  • Blazing Fast, Rock Solid & Worth Every Penny!
Size: 5 Port | 2.5G
I picked up the TP-Link TL-SG105S-M2 to upgrade my home network, and I couldn’t be happier. This little powerhouse delivers true 2.5Gbps speeds across all five ports, making it perfect for my WiFi 6 access point, NAS, and gaming setup. The performance is smooth, consistent, and lag-free, even during heavy file transfers and online gaming. Setup was a breeze—plug and play, no configuration needed. It auto-negotiates speeds (100M/1G/2.5G) flawlessly, and works with my existing Cat5e cables, so no expensive rewiring required. The fanless metal design is a huge plus: silent operation and sturdy build that feels premium. Compared to other switches I considered, this one offered the best value for multi-gig performance. No frills, no fluff—just reliable speed and efficiency. My network feels like it got a turbo boost, and my devices are finally talking to each other at full throttle. My bandwidth is happy, my setup is sleek, and my inner tech nerd is doing a victory lap. If you’re looking to future-proof your home or office network, this switch is a no-brainer. ... show more
