Features

  • Matter: Smooth LAN ControlAll Matter-certified devices in your local area network (LAN) will work smoothly even when your home internet goes offline. Matter allows effective communication directly between devices, without the need for a specific 'forwarding' device. For example, a Matter smart switch or sensor can turn on/off a Matter bulb directly without being connected to a cloud service, or other specific action. Once configured, communication and control between Matter devices can be achieved directly on the local network.
  • Easy Guided InstallNeutral wire is required for this standard wall plate size WiFi light switch. No need to understand complex switch wiring or master vs auxiliary switch configuration. The Tapo App guides you through easy step by step installation. Need 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection.

My TP Link/TAPO smart switch Liz easy to install following the helpful step-by-step guidance from the TAPO app, and works perfectly with the app with no issues. • 5.0 out of 5 stars Setup on Alexa went Almost Perfect
I have MANY smart control devices scattered around my house, and of course the MANY required apps to have set them all up. Even though they get picked up by Alexa, Matter is just the thing I've been waiting for, to get everyone on the same page. Although I now have a few Matter devices, this is actually the first I managed to setup JUST using Alexa. Maybe they are getting better, or maybe I am getting better, honestly, I can't say. Upon setup, if you read the directions, it tells you to first download the Tapo app, set up, then connect to Alexa. I thought, here we go again, another app, which I don't have, and THEN connect to Alexa. I have several TP=Link switches, but they set up with some other app, not Tapo. Anyhow, I tried directly with Alexa: Devices, + add device, other, matter, yes QR code, turned power on to switch, and... it wouldn't connect. Tried a few times. Disconnected and reconnected switch power, and it was blinking amber and green which is the setup mode. Never setup on anything else, so it was on factory mode. I decided to try reset (hold reset button for 10 seconds), it came back on, and voila! Alexa found it! The TP-Link switches are first class, indicator light on when switch off (for dark rooms), nice button feel that you actually press, and a standard 15A 600-watt rating. You have to be careful with some of the smart switches out there with a smaller rating, especially if you are controlling multiple ceiling lights. These also control up to 120W ceiling fans, some of the cheaper ones will not. Another thing I really like is that it is not overly large, especially in depth, compared to some. Finally, it has wire leads, rather than screw terminals, to make it easier to connect to your bundle of white wires and ground wires if you are installing in a multi gang switch. Definitely the wave of the future and worth a few extra bucks! ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars UL safety certified
Before installing the switch, the UL safety mark alone give me peace of mind for installing in my home. The shallow depth of the switch give me confidence I should have no hard time installing.
