In my opinion the best easy to setup device for wifi mesh networks, the setup is very intuitive and specific describing step be step everything, i usually does not like to setup wifi products trough an app i preffer web browser "old fashion" but mesh syatems rarely has this option. The Deco app is simply amazing. The system works flawleslly and for the price is unbeatable, i paid about hundred for one router and 2 satellites. The only cons at least for me is that the performance is not so powerfull as i expected wich is understandable at this price point. I have 400MB of download and other mesh devices and routers i testes reach this speed. The deco system goes about 250MB for the router and 150MB for the satelites, wich is not bad and this covers the majority of needs for a wifi network, streaming gaming etc. But i want more, latency was great and the performance overall, but is not for me, i want close to 400mb wich i reach with othwr devices i tested. Another plus is this system cames with a free access to control your network, what devices are connected, ban pause or control the wifi, even give high priority to certain devices on the network. Very professional and free, the majority of companies charge you to have acces to manage your network wich in my opnion is a scam. Very recommended product. Just if you have a really high speed, try another high end Deco, more expensive and Wifi 6 capable. If i get one i will post my impresions about it.

COVID-19 brought more people in my home needing reliable wifi and one that maintain the bandwidth coming into the home. I got this to better manage the reliability and coverage in my home. SETUP. Couldn't be easier. Download the app and follow the instructions. It takes you step by step through the process. One suggestion, when setting up the plug in nodes that you will place throughout your home, set them up near the main control unit and then unplug from the wall and move to the desired location. ALEXA COMPATIBLE. Since Alexa plugs and light bulbs work on a 2.4 GHz wifi signal there is a trick to getting these setup. Go into the app and disable the 5 GHz signal. Wait a few minutes and then set up your plugs or light bulbs or other Alexa compatible devices. When you are done you can turn the 5 GHz back on and everything will work well. You could even try setting this up with the same network name and password as your previous router if you had one. That might solve the need to do the workaround. GUEST WIFI IS A SNAP. When guests come over you can set up a guest network with or without a password. When they leave you can disable the guest network PARENTAL CONTROL. They are kind of weak. For example I set up a control to prevent adult sites. So while it prevented a porn site from loading, it allowed Playboy and Penthouse to load. Um, sorry, those should be blocked too. Why not let us add certain sites to be blocked. If its there, I can't find it. All in all, after a short period of time, its a good mesh network that is a fraction of the cost of others and apears to do what I need it to do.

I installed this kit to replace a (premium at the time) linksys AC3200 tri-band router. although this mesh kit uses the technically a slower AC1200 standard, It has proven itself much more reliable and faster overall in my 1200sqft 1940s house with a weird floorplan and thick plaster walls. it's not perfect and I sometimes get a second of buffering every day or two with my otherwise-fast cable modem, but it's still a huge improvement. one thing that I didn't like about this TP link router-- It uses a weird nonstandard DHCP range: 192.168.64.x and it required a firmware update to switch to a standard 192.168.1.1. Most users wouldn't notice this, but if you've got a bunch of servers in your house and you address them all by IP address, it might make switching to this system more trouble than it needs to be. one thing I really like about this system-- all the TP link DECO products are interoperable. you could use this system and if you decide later that you need a wired backhaul for more bandwidth on the other side of the house, you can add another deco M4R or deco M9 and run one ethernet cable to have a super strong mesh network. Some kits like the google wifi support a wired backhaul out of the box but they're a lot more expensive and if your house doesn't have wired ethernet all over or you don't plan on running a wired backhaul, you probably won't see any speed difference between this kit and google's wifi. Wired backhaul will speed up any mesh system significantly as the mesh speed is only as fast as the connected peer's wifi connection which can vary depending if you have good locations for the deco m3 mesh range extenders. One interesting option I found this while researching this system-- if you're looking for a wired backhaul but don't want to run any ethernet cables; the deco P9 supports powerline-ethernet which sends data through hour house's wall plugs (and still also through mesh 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi). There are very few drawbacks to choosing such a system except for the price; although it's still competitive against google wifi; and some houses with old wiring or multiple circuit breaker panels might not be able to benefit from powerline ethernet; but you should consider if it's right for you. My internet connection is about 90 megabits wired and I usually see around 88 megabits over the deco M3/M4R mesh wifi. In the worst areas of the house where I had almost no signal before I'm getting no less than 35 megabits and usually over 60. I'm sure this system is capable of greater than 100megabit speeds but my internet connection is simply not fast enough to test that aspect. The TP-Link kit gives decent speed everywhere in my house and even my large backyard, and my driveway. The box says this kit is good for 4,500 sqft although I'm not so sure about that. I'd estimate that It's probably good for 2500sqft in new construction or 2000sqft in older homes (with thick walls). You could certainly spend more for a mesh wifi kit, but this system can meet a lot of people's needs and with the WIFI6 standard on the horizon, this TP link system might be all you need. My wifi coverage is strong and reaches literally every corner of my house. My network SSID is "Free Public WiFi" (with a password of course because I'm just plain evil) I'm confident that with this strong coverage, neighbors can at least see the SSID at least a few doors down.

Have had this unit for almost 2 weeks. Crossing my fingers because this is when a few different reviews say theirs stop working. However, until that happens, I’ve been very pleasantly surprised with how good this unit works. We live in about 1,000 sq feet unit with our garage directly under us. Have a ring door bell at the edge of our property as well as digital garage opener and sensor and compared to our original router, these mesh devices reach all the crevices of our space way better. I’m even able to go to my garage without dropping WiFi signal and before that was norm with our old router. Even in our bedroom the streaming on our tv or connectivity to our phones was very week. Now with these mesh units we don’t have any drop and 100% coverage and download speeds. Would recommend this to anyone that ever asks me. Have had lot of luck with tp links products in the past. Wouldn’t think twice to buy it again. Set up was rather easy as well

I read the reviews and even got a firmware update as stated but there is STILL no way that I could find to differentiate the 2.4 and 5GHz channels, it seems it combines them into one and your devices get to "guess" which it needs, BUT....smart plugs for lamps etc that you use on Alexa and Google home which REQUIRE the 2.4GHz channel cannot see this as an SSID to connect to. I even named it the same as my old 2.4GHz SSID to try and trick it even though it's a combined single channel. I simply couldn't get them to connect at all and have re-connected them several times before while tinkering and know what I'm doing so setting this up for a layman is going to be tough. While many say the app is super easy, it's really NOT because it doesn't state much about combining the channel or the fact that it CAN'T separate the 2.4 and 5GHz into separate SSIDs so this is a no win for me. In this day and age this is a HORRIBLE mesh system if you have smart plugs and it shouldn't be....bummer. Have to dock it 2 stars most definitely as I can see many having problems with this and don't even bother opening the 50 page booklet. each page is 2 paragraphs in different languages on each page basically simply telling you to download the app to setup the system...why they printed it at all is a waste.....The setup is super easy if you don't have requirements for specifying a 2.4GHz channel and just need a basic mesh system, but other than that this is a VERY basic setup and most people will have zero control over it and end up returning it. Update. After a second firmware update install. (Rebooted and it told me there was an update but already didnone for all 3 components so not sure) it seems to work much better. Ill try a smart device and see if it can see the 2.4ghz necessity and reoort back. The first time installed the smart switches couldnt connect to it at all. Supposedly the firmware fixes this but Inhad already done the firmware update and it indeed foashed correctly but still didnt work. These have been far more a pain tonsetup than some reviews say and I wirk in IT and still had to move the satellite box pueces closer to main unit for initial pairing and still had issues. So meh.... we'll see.

Installed last weekend and replaced a failing single wireless router. Took about 10 minutes total and that included plugging a 5 port switch into it and rebooting the cable modem. The 2 satellites when plugged in took less than 30 seconds to connect. I got full coverage throughout a 5000 sq foot single story house as well as good coverage outside the house. Smart Tvs went from stuttering all the time to playing 1080P streamed videos on 2 TVs as well as casual internet browsing with no issues. I unplugged one of the satellites and moved it further away from the main router and it came back online in less than a minute. Initially the app to control everything was very limited in scope (I run a whole Unifi set up in my house so I am spoiled). The app automatically updated the firmware on all the nodes right after install and then again 2 days later. They added in additional controls for QOS, port forwarding, static IPs, selecting a DNS server, blacklisting users, etc. They added in some features for SIP and IPTV which I have not played around with. You can also set Vlans. Not as full featured as a full blown router but pretty impressive. The app allows you to control and maintain the network even when not on site which is helpful since this setup is for my parents who sometimes need help with the "internet." Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and more importantly I am not getting phone calls about the internet not working anymore.

I am in the IT field and asked by a friend to help improve his wifi network. Normally I would use higher-end customized equipment but for this project wanted to give him something simple and easy to use. Plus with Covid, I did not want to spend 5 hours at his house configuring. Good: - The devices are good looking - Set up via the app was easy - Signal from the main "router" device is strong - Speeds reaching 400mbps in areas with strong signal Bad: - General signal strength drops off quickly and with it the speeds. Would say speed is cut in half every 15 ft further way from the AP you go. - The satellite devices have very poor range and much slower speeds than the main router. They may also be semi directional, as I was getting very poor signal in the room directly "behind" one of the satellites. - Lacking the features, customization, and security of "real" access points. The app is nice, but is extremely limited in what you can configure. This might be good for situations where someone isn't tech savvy, but those of us who are will want more. Result: Ended up returning and going with the TP-Link Deco M5 (2-pack). Interestingly enough, the M5 2-pack had better coverage/range/speed than this 3-pack did.

I've been searching for a solution to my wifi problem for years and the Deco system has done it! I own a 1600 sq ft home and have both a 1000 sq ft barn and a 640 sq ft metal backyard bar behind it. Unfortunately, my internet enters my home at the furthest possible spot away from both of the other buildings. I've tried wifi extenders and various other combinations to try to broadcast my signal to them with very little luck. When I would happen to catch it would be intermittent at best... and that wasnt very often. I was about to finally break down and run aerial cat-6 to the other structures -- something I've avoided for years because it very seldomly looks nice. I've also avoided doing direct burial because I do tons of gardening and landscaping and am always digging up the yard for one or the other. Luckily, I tried out the mesh technology and it solved everything. It easily tosses my signal across my home and out into the other structures, including the metal bar which normally has trouble receiving or transmitting signal from anything -- including mobile data on my phone. In fact, I loved the mesh setup so much I ended up buying additional units and added to it "just in case" there were any deadzones I may have missed. Since then, I've walked around my property, which is about 10,000 sq ft total, and found that I catch great signal everywhere. Pros: I love the fact that it's a seamless connection as I bounce around the property, no longer having to wait for extenders or a router to reconnect. The units are aesthetically pleasing and don't stick out like sore thumbs. There's various options as you look across the product line, but each one is minimalistic and can be placed in plain sight without an issue. Setup was straightforward with the app. Much cheaper than the alternatives and I can't fathom paying more for the other company's branding when I know how well these units from TP-Link work. I have a Plex server and the mesh makes it a breeze to transmit data "in network" so that the quality is original and it doesn't affect my data cap. Cons: none yet.
