  • My Experience So Far
I have used this for three months so far and I can provide some feedback on my experience. The price is right - compared to the various other more costly Mesh network hardware available. You must install the mobile app to get started. I bought the one with the main Deco M3 base unit in my main home office and the two separate little nodes placed in my basement and living room. On initial setup, the app mis-identified the Deco M3 but I went with what the app identified it as and it worked well from there. The app then identified the other smaller units individually in the separate rooms pretty easily. The full setup was less than 30 minutes out of the box, and my new Mesh network was up and running, much faster and more stable than ever before. A month later, I wanted to try using Port Forwarding on my network, so I ended up having to create a new network using the app, as it lost the original network and gave me a red light on the top of the Deco M3. So I created a new network with the same name. This created a conflict, so I deleted one of the two networks. Every time that red light comes on during setup, I am unable to re-establish a connection with my AT&T modem. So I decided to create a new network name (SSID) and this time the setup was successful with a nice teal-colored light and a successful connection to the modem. However, this time the smaller network nodes could NOT be found. So I had a dilemma. My M3 is working and I have a good, stable wi-fi connection in most of my house, but I don't want to start all over again just so that the smaller extenders work. As advertised, this Mesh system should work in a 4,500 square foot house (Whole Coverage) with only the Deco M3 base. So I figured I'd try it without the additional extenders. The signal comes up with only one bar on wi-fi in my other two rooms. So the signal is quite a bit weaker in other areas of my house, which is only 1,100 square feet and two floors. I will probably try setting it up with a whole new network name (again) and again try going through the steps of setting up all three pieces, but so far I have a mixed experience. I like the increased speed of my wi-fi connection in most of the house, but I'm not fully happy with the connection in the basement and living room without the additional nodes. It's a decent system with a so-so app that often fails to correctly identify or locate all of the pieces, and it will take some patience if not initially successful. ... show more

  • Mobile Wi-Fi At Home
Honestly, it seems more & more we are staying at home and trying to do everything due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is hard to believe, but we are at a place where most of us are being isolated with everything in one place. So for most of us, we do need to make small adjustments to just keep us secure with our live. In regards to our internet connection, we need to upgrade to have a connection with everything for our work, school and our entertainment with streaming movies online. So for me, I had to consider changing my router, because I wanted to keep up with everyone while streaming online. I have had many different routers, but today we need to consider having a mesh router for our everyday needs. But I did not want to spend more than I could afford. So, I found one affordable mesh router, but it had some kinks in it. TP-Link's Deco M3 Mesh Wi-Fi system is a inexpensive and affordable mesh router system that handles well in its price, but with a few hiccups along the way. The mesh Wi-Fi system is easy to connect and setup, but runs mainly from a app on your tablet or smartphone (a casualty for those whom do not own a smartphone in the process.) Still, the speed is fairly good, and is a step up from the Wireless-N routers. The speed is mostly reliable, but there are a few faults along the way. For one, you cannot control the wireless channels the mesh Wi-Fi can be on, unlike prior routers. That in itself is a problem, especially if you want to remove pings from your connection for a faster speed. I had talked to Tp-Link itself, and they tech support was lousy in regards to helping me setup a faster connection. If TP-Link did manage to put that in the software, it would've made excellent customer service. Another fault is the lack of connectivity my mother received while streaming her movies online in her bedroom. The connection was lagging at times, and I had to use my cable companies Wi-Fi for a better connection. Still, for what it is worth, there are not a lot of cheap options you can get for better Wi-Fi, but the Deco M3 Wi-Fi system from TP-Link is one that can handle well. While many people would rather spend more for the money, with so many people struggling in their lives from the pandemic, this would be one of the few options I would suggest you go to, but hopefully it can be a lesson for TP-Link to help provide better options for speed and reliability. • Perfect for smart devices
I work as a network technician and I've been thoroughly impressed with this mesh network. For the price and functionality I have no complaints. The app is user friendly with plenty of features. Im currently using the base on the third floor with one access point in my detached garage. My isp only provides 25mbps but I never have issues streaming in my garage or accessing my cameras. ... show more
