Earl Grey is my favorite tea, and Bigelow's Earl Grey in the traditional steeped bags has been my go-to for decades. Great bergamot flavor; my only complaint over that time has been that the black tea flavor seemed a little weak, though I blamed that on me for not using hot enough water. Then last year we got a Keurig. I was thinking the hotter water (even though Keurig brews, not steeps) would create a stronger tea flavor, but at the time I didn't find these Bigelow K-cups, instead got the Twinings Earl Grey K-cups. And sure enough, same bergamot taste but stronger tea flavor, quite nice. But now I found these Bigelow K-cups and I was eager to compare. And the results leave me conflicted about how to rate these. The positive note is, they taste identical to the steeped bag version. So if you're looking for a K-cup that accurately reproduces the steeped Bigelow Earl Grey, these do the trick. The negative note is, they taste identical to the steeped bag version. That weaker black tea flavor from the steeped bags wasn't due to me using water that wasn't hot enough after all, that's just how it tastes. And now, having drank quite a bit of the Twinings Earl Grey K-cups, I find I prefer the Twinings. Which is hard to admit after so many years of Bigelow loyalty. But really the difference between the two is very minor, I could go with either brand and your taste preferences may differ from mine. In this six-box case quantity, these Bigelow K-cups have been priced about 20% cheaper than the Twinings, which could be a factor when deciding which to buy. But, as of this writing, the two brands are now priced near-identically. Means it's worth reviewing current pricing each time a re-stock is needed. So, ranking is based on 5 stars for accurately reproducing the steeped bag version, minus one star due to Twinings being a hair better, by my palate. ... show more
