After using this a few months, I adore this oven. It's very well made, heats evenly, and the smart features are brilliant. My wife is not good at cooking, and having the bar code scanner work with some of the groceries that she eats (I wish it were programmable to add more) has been a godsend. The pre-programmed complex cook cycles are extremely well thought out. I've never been able to cook chicken as good as I did before I got this, and I've started making homemade pizzas in it instead of ordering out because it cooks them so well. I've also added my own programs for things I make regularly that aren't in the database which was very easy. I don't even use my full sized oven anymore. The Tovala meal service has pretty good (not great) food, but it is very overpriced so I cancelled it. The app and meal ordering process are very well done, though. The color, unfortunately, just doesn't match any other appliance ever made and looks very out of place in the kitchen. Also because it's light there are yellow stains from where the smoke escapes around the door that are literally impossible to clean. I would have ordered the black one except I didn't care for the steam aspect of it (it will constantly tell you to refill the water), and I wanted the two-speed air fryer to make things crispier. I might find a way to paint it black, honestly, and it would be perfect. If it ever stops working I'd order another one without hesitation. ... show more

I love my oven and the meal kits you can subscribe to from Tovala. The oven is so convenient and easy to use, the app for it contains a database of scannable grocery items that you can quickly cook with just the barcode scanner feature, no need to program times and temperatures. That said you can still program times and temperatures either using the front panel of the oven or by programming a recipe in the app. The app gives you notifications when the food is done cooking so I don’t miss out on a tiny little ‘beep’ as my only notice that I need to act. The oven stops cooking automatically at the end of its cycle, no worry about leaving the oven on after you use it.     • The "smart" part isn't so when you have only 5G as your wifi

The oven does everything well: toast, bake, air fry, broil, etc. It dings when it's preheated and turns off when the timer goes off. In addition, the convection fan keeps circulating warm air until you remove food and turn the unit off. I have no comment on the "smart" part since neither of us (me, or the oven) is ready for MENSA. Without a 2.4 internet setting, you cannot register the oven, or cook automatically with Tovala directions. Using the $50 discount, we ordered our first Tovala meals and will figure out what to do with them tonight. If there hadn't been a discount, we would not have bothered as the difference between the discount and our order was $40 for 4 meals. At those prices, we won't order again, as the portion sizes of the 4 meals will serve only two people. If this changes, I'll add to this assessment. ... show more

The photo on Amazon showed it is gray, but I didn't realize it was going to be SO gray! I am 86 and do my own cooking. My counter space is limited and this oven is an excellent size for me. Although I easily connected it to my WiFi, I don't see any value for me in that feature. I've used the oven for only a few days now, but I've tried all the modes and have cooked a number of things. It works as advertised. Reading and following the user guide carefully is ESSENTIAL, though, since this oven is not a simple plug in and go device. My initial concern about installation was that I might not have the counter space to position it safely, but this proved to be no problem. Got this for my mom for x-mas, didn't last a month since she opened it before it stopped working entirely. Also you have to manually put in all the cooking instructions on the app for anything you want to scan with it.
